How long did it take your case to get to the NVC?

Dodi, I'm willing to bet that both your case and mine are there, possibly both already on their way to London, but just not in the system at the NVC for some reason. I mean, my USCIS update online still says my case is in initial review!

Maybe. DOS may not have it in the system until it's logged at London. Even though the NVC is part of the DOS, since K1's are such a different animal than most of the stuff they deal with, it's possible that if it didn't get into the system at NVC, it likely won't get into the DOS system until it's logged in and received in London. If the customer service reps in New Hampshire don't have information on your file on their computer screen, there is no way a customer service rep for the DOS in DC would have any more information. Once the case gets to London and is logged in as received, THEN the DOS would have that information.

I got the same answer ("could take up to 90 days") when I called NVC today, so I told operator that Approval Notice (NOA2) is only valid for 120 days (look under Notice Type) and that 90 days wait doesn't make sense. She told me not to worry, if needed they will extend the approval. #######?

It seems like everyone who got their NOA2 notices after June 30th are waiting a lot longer on NVC to assign case numbers, then those who received theirs before June 30th.

Nov 25 2009 - While on vacation in Ukraine met my fiancee

June 30 2010 - NOA 2!!!

July 06 2010 - NOA 2 Hard copy received

July 11 2010 - NVC still still didn't receive approved petition from USCIS. Sent inquiry via email to NVC regarding my case

July 13 2010 - USCIS claims that they sent my petition on July 6th to NVC. Sent inquiry to USCIS.

July 21 2010 - USCIS sent email saying approved petition was lost in transit, asking to submit duplicate copy in order to reconstruct my case

July 29 2010 - Duplicate copy sent to Vermont Service Center.

August 10 2010 - USCIS sent email. Original petition found

August 10 2010 - second NOA 2 issued.

I think this "90 days" thing is just the standard answer they give for all cases, no matter what type of visa you are applying for. Remember, the people you talk to aren't K1 specialists, so they don't realize how they are basically just the clearing house that gets the applications where they are supposed to go. It's like USCIS saying they try to get applications done in 5 months. MANY people get their approval in less time than that, but they won't let you file any formal complaint until that time. I think that is what the 90 days thing is, that if it's been 90 days and you STILL have no idea what is going on with your case, THEN you can start to raise hell.

I agree, Marlea. Because I've had several operators tell me that the NVC doesn't even handle K1's and they're sent directly from the USCIS to the Embassy or Consulate. This is complete nonsense, but it just goes along with what I said earlier - poor training.

Ok, kids, I just called today and FINALLY got my number. She said that the packet was still at the NVC, that it had JUST been received, so I'm assuming they were a bit backlogged from the holiday weekend.

I received my NOA2 via email on 7/1, and it said it had been mailed on 6/30. Due to the holiday, I just received the hard copy yesterday. How long should I expect it to take for the NVC to receive my file? I know I should expect a delay from the holiday for them to get it as well, but what's the realistic waiting period there? They're telling me it takes 3 weeks to 3 months for them to receive it, which doesn't sound at all like the norm according to timelines here.

Any ideas?

Well, after 24 days at the NVC my case finally was sent to the embassy, so hopefully we can get an interview date in August. I hope my prayers are answered.

Still nothing. They're telling me to call the USCIS. After I waited on hold to get to the Misinformation Line operator and then pleaded with them to escalate my call, the escalation operator went to put me on hold and hung up on me. :ranting:
