lmao Cian - yeah I really AM carrying it around - Lenny calls me 'Change woman' cos whenever I pay for stuff in stores I try and get it exact to the last penny - HE of course has a HUGE change jar

I have 3 places I put my loose change - in a dish by the phone, a dish on my desk at work, and in the ash tray of my car. I can't stand carrying it around in my pocket. ;)

I call it Home Despot.

Sian calls it B&Q too, I think.

Guess the usage I considered mine is the proper one. lol

"Cilantro - pronounced [sih-LAHN-troh]

This member of the carrot family is also referred to as Chinese Parsley and Coriander. It is actually the leaves (and stems) of the Coriander plant. Cilantro has a very pungent odor and is widely used in Mexican, Caribbean and Asian cooking. The Cilantro leaves look a bit like flat Italian parsley and in fact are related. "

When Tim has been here, within a matter of weeks we will have nearly $30 in change stuck in a jar. Sometimes he would attempt to use it, so we would be standing at a register.....

Him: What is this one?

Me: A dime that is worth 10 cents

Him: Why is your 10p smaller than your 5p

Me: They aren't p's, they are dimes and nickles and I don't know why it is smaller

Him: What is this one?

Me: A quarter

Him: A quarter of a dollar, that is 25.

Me: chuckle, chuckle, giggle, giggle

Cashier: WTFFFFFFFFFFF

Him: grrrrrrr (grabs out bills instead)

A dime is smaller than a nickle because traditionally, a nickle was made from......nickle! Whereas a dime was made from silver. It takes less silver to equal 10 cents than it does nickle to equal 5 cents. Ergo, a dime was smaller than a nickle. That's the story I heard, at least.

Besides....he's one to freaking talk! The UK 2 pence piece is about the size of one of our quarters. It's huge! It's only 2 pence! And don't get me started on carrying around £1 coins.....

I've heard a lot of Brits say that our paper money is confusing because it's all the same size.... Didn't they teach "numbers" in the UK? Our bills say what they are all over them. Don't get me wrong, I agree that our bills are ugly, but good grief! Do you want the things to talk too, and announce that it is "5 quid!" when you remove it from your wallet?

:P

Roflmao @ the 2p! When I stayed over there my purse must have weighed an extra ten pounds from all of the coins, drove me insane.

I will have to share the story of the dime and nickel to him, makes much sense now. Should have googled it for him.

Yeah I see your point, But to be fair to the Brits, at least their bills are in different colours, so when you are drunk you are still able to differenciate one bill from the next. With ours its a ####### shoot...FFS I went to the casino once with my girlfriend. The casino is great for giving you free drinks while you gamble and of course they make sure that they are nice and strong so you get drunk quick...anyway, I was off my trolley...I went to tip the waitress and only meant to give her a dollar bill. Later, I went to grab a 20 for the slot machine...I HAD NONE LEFT!!! I was like #######??? I dumped my whole purse out....I only had like 4 one dollar bills left. I shook my head in disbelief when the penny dropped and I had realised what I had done!! My gf thought it was well funny...it explained why we got the same waitress everytime and why she bolted off like a bat out of hell after I tipped the ######...At least I made some starving family happy...(at least that is what I tell myself about the waitress to kind of ease the pain a bit)....BRING THE COLOURED BILLS TO THE US ANYTIME!!!!

Dave leaves his change in his pockets when he puts things in the laundry.. I now have $5.67 in my pile next to the washer!

If your pockets aren't emptied, and I find money in there when I do the laundry...it becomes my tip.

  Dang VJers making other meanings for "do the laundry"... my mind wandered to wonder what that could've meant. Find money in where, and how'd it get there?  Maybe I should go back to sleep.
