Hi!

Seeing that adjustment of status is almost $1500 buck a roos, I am just wondering how everyone is finding this money after paying for a wedding/honeymoon/travel from foreign countries etc...??????

Does the Gov't take credit cards?

and tell me when there are children involved in this process

Yes this is what we will be facing...a fiancee' 2 kids, one of which will turn 14 as he arrives in USA.

So cash only? Hummmmm, better invite more peeps to the wedding & hope for MONEY only as gifts...maybe a box at wedding reception that says 'Drop your extra cash & change here to help me keep the girl I am marrying today!'

Geez...I am a bit freaked out! plus you can't wait around to adjust status since you need wifey-poo to work & pay the whole thing off.

Now I think I understand all the peeps coming over for free & just living off the system, when you see how the Gov't takes the money of the 'Rule Followers'

ok, almost done whining....whaaaaaaaaaa...Boooo....Hooooooooo! (ok really done now, gotta go rob a bank ;o)

hey at least they waive the work authorization fee ;)

I have also spent extra $$ on certified translations, express mail, and ink cartridges to make print pictures, and make countless copies!!

Oh and buying binders plastic protective sleeves to keep all copies organized.

Most people did give us cash for our wedding.. but we blew through it during our honeymoon

I feel your pain. I paid for three, and the two 'kids' are both over 14 so full fees for everyone! :(

The reason the fees are so high is because immigration services are funded almost entirely by the immigrants and their sponsors. Only a small portion of the funding comes from the US taxpayers.

As a taxpayer, I think this is appropriate. I wouldn't want to have to pay taxes so some guy I don't know can help his mom immigrate here from Timbuktu. It's only fair that he should have to pay the bill for this, since he and his mom are the ones who are benefiting from it.

On the other hand, knowing how totally inept the US government is at spending money wisely, I wonder how much of our money is being flushed on old fashioned government inefficiency and waste.
