K 1 expiration date

My fiance was issued a k1 visa on 2/18/10. The current expiration date on the visa is 7/21/10. I know the k1 visa should be valid for six months but my fiances seems to be valid for only five months. I was planning on my fiance to fly to the US in August. Will the US embassy in manila fix the expiration date or is it a lost cause. Thanks!

Sometimes the validity of the visa is 6 months from when the medical is done. Does those dates line up for you?

I'v heard that it's possible to "re-validate" (extend the validity of it) your visa at the embassy but I'm not sure how easy/hard it is or how to go about it.

Hope it all works out!

Usually 'less than 6 months' is tied around some medical issue at the medical exam.

In the visa stamp, might be some 'annotation' citing INA Regulation or 9FAM .

IMO, buy the ticket for first week of August, forget about extending it with US Embassy/Manila.

Good Luck !

My fiance passed the Medical without any issues, im kinda surprised that the embassy would validate from date of the medical and not the date she actually had the interview. I just hope immigration at point of entry in US does not deny her if she comes in August.

I hope Darnell was just not reading your post very closely!

If her visa is expired then she likely won't be allowed to board the plane. If the airline employee isn't paying attention and allows her on the plane, then CBP isn't going to allow her to enter the US. An expired visa is EXPIRED, NOT VALID, NO GOOD.

The embassy cannot simply write a new date on the visa. They'd have to issue another one. I would imagine that would take a couple of weeks, at the very least. If there's any possible way you can get her on a plane before her visa expires it would save you a lot of potential problems.
