Though the response "never lived together" may be ok I would tend to lean toward N/A, after all thats what the instuctions tell you answer if a question doesn't apply. and i've never heard of anyone getting an RFE from responding N/A to this question.

Jazzy

Which questions that might reasonably tempt an "N/A" answer DO historically get an RFE for answering "N/A" ?

On anther topic, I see on the back page of the I-129F that there are two questions with checkboxes (#2 and #3) about prior convictions. If they don't apply, do I leave the whole area blank? There is no space provided to write or check "None", but after all I've read about not leaving blanks, it seems risky not to acknowledge that whole section in some way. Should I write something (simple) beside the questions?

I got my husband's G-325A's and all of his documents/photos today, but he left a gap in his employment history so he has to send another set of forms. *sigh* It will be such a relief the day I finally get to mail this @#$% I-130. It seems like it's taking forever just to get this whole thing started! :dead:

Yes leave whole area blank dont write somewhere on the form where it doesnt have space for a response. My I-129F had come back to me just because I wrote "N/A" on the last question which ask for signature of person who filled the form, if it was other than me. Next time I left it blank and it was accepted. Good Luck

Better to answer a question with an actual answer as in "never lived together" as most if not all questions are applicable. Whilst they do say one can use N/A or None....the use of N/A can run the risk of an adjudicator asking him/herself 'why is it not applicable' and sending an RFE for an answer. Just seems much simpler to avoid this happening in the first place.

Read questions carefully and if it is asking for an answer from everyone or only those it applies to. Such as the IMBRA questions.

I just submitted my I-129F yesterday and was troubled by the new IMBRA questions. I met my spouse INDIRECTLY through a relative of hers who I did meet via an internet dating website that I paid a 30-day membership fee. I answered the question YES even though I did not meet HER via any website, and I attached a separate signed and dated sheet explaining that I met her as I've stated, and I included the IRL info where I initially met her relative as separate sheets.

Regarding the Part C questions, I did insert N/A in question 1, and attached a separate sheet for questions 2 and 3 stating that the questions appeared to require a yes or no answer, so I indicated that both questions were N/A in my case, or as phrased the answer is NO for both. I didn't want to leave this blank. We'll see what happens.

That's a great idea, Michael. It really is unfair that questions that serious would not have a checkbox to indicate "none of the above". I think I'll attach a note as well. Did you write something on the I-129F itself to refer the adjudicator to the attached page, or did you just attach it, assuming they'd see it?

Aussiewench, Yodrak, Simple Male, other veterans, do you think this is a good solution ... or at least preferable to writing "None" directly on the form?

JenM,

My sense is that in general the USCIS is becoming less ####### about the issue, and although I often take up arms in the battle myself I think we tend to overdo it here at VJ.

It is a significant issue for those who still run into a strict case officer, and it's so easy to avoid the risk by giving a meaningful response in just a few words in available space on the form. I don't see a need to go to the extra effort of a response that's long enough to require an attachment for an item that is insignificant to the case on the basis of the answer.

The approach that one should take is to make review of the form as easy as possible - don't invite the reviewer to ask 'why is this not applicable?' and don't write a paragraph when 2-4 words will do.

Yes, I did list the separate attachments on the cover letter. For my IMB question separate sheet there were three pages total, so in parenthesis I say (3 pages), then I also state separate sheet for Part C Questions 2 and 3 (1 page). I signed and dated each attachment.

From the posts in the IMBRA forum it seems that some are doing nothing in regards to those questions if they dont apply and others have added an attachment. Both ways seem to have gotten approvals. I imagine once a new form comes out (remember this I-129F was an emergency one) that they may perhaps then realise and have both 'yes' & 'no' checked boxes.

Thanks for that last bit of clarification. I'll remember to keep an eye on a couple more forums than I do now, since it does seem that information can be hiding almost anywhere here on VJ!

Cheers,
