So still waiting on that NOA2. Ordering transcripts tomorrow, and having DH apply for his police certificate now. Just a couple questions regarding who should have what to make things easier:

1. Is it easier for my DH to be his own agent in his place of country(UK) and fill out/send proof from there? or

2. Is it easier for myself/petitioner to be the agent and have all mail correspondence come to me here in the States?

I want to cut costs as much as I can in sending copies back and forth from country to country so I wanted to see how everyone else is doing this. I'm assuming if I were to be the agent that my husband needs to send me all his proof like birth cert, police cert, etc. to my US address. Is this correct? Or can my husband act as his own agent and receive correspondence at his UK address and send proof/docs from there? Any help/advise on how people chose to correspond with the nvc here would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Maybe a good time to review some NVC 'stuff' ?

http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/SecurityNameChecksAndAdministrativeReview.html

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

and then a mini-how-to for using the online payment portal - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467

then the email template for sending in an ascii / text email version of the DS-3032 - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

IMO, if you are acting as his agent, then you have final eyeball review on what's going out. This is a good thing, again IMO, as you can catch any ommissions prior to HIM sending stuff straight to NVC from the UK.

IMO - re: time and timing - if you have 'all in hand' by the time you SEE the IV fee bill on the online payment portal, then it's gonna be 'the fastest' for NVC processing. You can approach this as 'good, fast, or cheap - pick two ! ' .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Okay but if im the agent then he still has to sign and send off all his orig documents to me from the UK right?? So basically there will be some fedex situations going on right? I just hope we only need to fedex one time from UK to USA. He could just download and fill out the DS 230 from his country right? I just want to get a clearer picture cuz he's visiting me soon here and I was going to have him bring some stuff I'll need as the agent, but if he has to make orig signatures and fill out the 230 himself then ill just have him send the whole packet and all that is needed to me when he gets everything in hand. Does this sound right?

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

LingChe's shortcuts is a great way to get prepared for NVC. Have him get as much done now (forms filled out, police certificate, orginal marriage cert. etc) and that way y'all are ready to speed through NVC. Don't wait for NVC to ask you for anything, this can hold you guys up.

If you want to cut costs of FedEx and stuff, then have him be the agent. He doesn't have to send them from the UK, he can send them while visiting the US if you like. If he is in the UK when sending stuff in, then he can FedEx them directly to NVC saving time.

Good luck

Having as much prepared ahead of time is the quickest way through NVC.

I had my husband designated as the agent but since all forms can be download anyway I did all of the paperwork, signed my forms and sent them to him in the US. He then signed what he needed to sign and forwarded our packages to NVC. I just felt better having it mailed from the US to a US address. Good luck!
