Good Morning,

First of all if im in the wrong forum, please advise where I should be. I have recently come back from a 3 month stay in Ghana. I stayed there with someone I had met online (embarassing to admit this lol). He is from Nigeria but living/working in Ghana. Ive now come back but Im certain I want to be with him forever. I am planning on going back again and marrying him. He wants me to live there while we await the approval for the visa and we know this could even take a year or more. My question is: because he is NIgerian, I know we will have to go thru the Nigerian embassy. But will there be any problems if we've been living in Ghana together since that is not his home country? I would not want to live in Nigeria for the year waiting for the approval. Ive been to Nigeria once before a few years ago and I prefer Ghana much more!! Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again !1

US Embassy in Ghana very very lagged these days, and most people there (most, not all) go through additional processing at the fraud prevention unit. Spend some time in the forums, read a bit, before making any decision, aye?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I think most of West Africa will be like that right? I am totally aware of all the obstacles. I just need clarification on the fact that we will be living in ghana as opposed to nigeria and im wondering if that will affect anything considering he is a nigerian citizen. but thanks for your input...keep it coming

IMO - the best input yer gonna get is via other ppl's prior posts about their experiences in Ghana, and the class action lawsuit being prepared for Ghana, as well. Spend some time in the forums, read a bit, before making any decision, aye?

Ghana is so slow that you may spend twice the time waiting for an interview there. But then you wouldn't have to deal with "the asian lady" so famous for denying everyone in her path.

yea he can have his interview in ghana inasmuch he has the residence permit but the waiting time in ghana is much compare to lagos.read through experiencies in ghana portals and nigeria then you can decide but am sure that you will always get the best advice from the forum.

Also, if you'll be living in Ghana for at least 6 months, you may consider Direct consular filing (DCF) if you're eligible. I'm sure that the consulate would question your Affidavit of support however.
