We knew he was gearing up to move soon. Never dawned on us that his moving would cause us havoc with the packet 3 coming from London. And reading about all the lost stuff that happens and such.....how do we fix this? He more then likely will have moved before the packet comes....and then when it comes, how do we correct his old addy to his new addy?

You can stand me at the gates of hell, but I wont back down.

You can get the forms online at the embassy website...the letter is for people not like you who aren't obsessive about immigration and need to be prompted to do the next step :)

In fact, if DOS has confirmed that London has "sent" packet 3, you don't even need to wait for him to get it. You can just preempt it all and send it off.

So all we need is the form filled out and sent. Am wondering if that wont throw a monkey wrench in the works though. And your right about being obsessive .....will be checking daily (within reason mind you) for the packet three, mailing it off before it arrives (once we know it has been sent)...not that our NOA2 has come yet, but we are expecting it any day. My wondering then comes in for the appointment notice....he wouldn't have anything mailed then would he? Could we simply have the correct address on the paperwork for packet three or do we actually need the address form to correct it?....he could actually call and get that appointment time and date ....? correct? So now am wondering if we should mess with the address correction. Should it be done even before the interview...correct it at the interview, so that no monkeying happens.....Am I thinking correctly?

You can stand me at the gates of hell, but I wont back down.

Cover all your bases. Change the address with USCIS. Do a forward with the Royal Mail. When the file reaches the US Embassy London from NVC, call DOS and ask if the address has been changed. Call the Embassy and ask what address they have on their system. Fill out packet 3 forms with the new address. Write a cover letter including "PLEASE NOTE ADDRESS CHANGE." After you know the P3 has reached London, call again to check that the address is correct. Check with DOS to learn when the interview is and if you don't have a letter, then get with the Embassy to at least send an e-mail showing your appointment, as it's the "ticket" in the door for the interview. I believe they do have a list of appointments, but it would be better to have an appointment letter or email in hand so save a possible hassle.

And concerning this you wrote

You do know it's not just one form?? It's four forms plus a checklist. You don't actually need the P3 letter since you know where to find the information on the website, but an interview letter would be a good thing to receive in the post. Edited by Nich-Nick

Oh yeah We have packet three ready to rock but for the addy.....and yeah its all of the multiple forms.

Now this is what I was worried about......jeesh...really am gonna strangle him.....well not much, as its because he sold the house to move to the states to be with me....it just sold faster then expected. So covering all our bases. The question is how many bases do we have in the first place.

I dont think I shall have any hair left when this process is all said and done. I sure hope he doesn't mind marrying a bald headed women....cause even if he did have issue, he would soon find out what a shot gun wedding is!

thanks for y'alls input. and still yet any other thoughts and ideas are appreciated as well.

Easy to fix. Go visit the friendly post master at the post office. The place your postman picks up the mail from before he delivers to you. Not the local shop :P

Then he will freeze all mail for that old address *free of charge he did for me* he will hold it all in the post offices pigeon holes for you.

You then take ID in and pick up your mail at a day and time to suit you.

I did this last year when i had to move out of my home for 6 weeks while building work was being carried out.

If your move is out of the area completely then i think for a charge you can have mail redirected to a new address.

Best bet is to nab your actual postman and just ask him where he picks up your mail every morning.

Get his boss the post master who will be more than happy to explain the best solution for your specific problem.

Me and my daughter got to know our post master so well that when she went to pick up mail from his office, he would wave and not even ask for ID, once seen never forgotten? haha
