Changing Address

Hi,

Could anyone please help me to answer a few questions about address change?

We are going to move to another address, but not far from where we live now. Could I keep my old address (where we live now) to receive any letters from USCIS later? (GC or SSN?) Or I have to inform them for the address change to prevent any issue later? (Of course when we fill out any forms with USCIS for 10-yrs GC or Naturalization application we have to give them the address where we live currently.)

Where we're gonna move to is only a few miles away from where we live now, so it's not a problem for me to go back there everyday to check mails. (and I don't want any delay to receive GC if I change the address)

Also for the SSN question: Should I wait for them to send my wife's SSN or go to SSA office to apply it? If I remember correctly, someone talked about this somewhere in the forum. They said The USCIS will send GC and SSN to us after a few weeks (if we ticked the SSN part, usually we will receive SSN in about 2 weeks after our arrival). Please correct me if I am wrong . and thanks a lot for answering these questions.

Is your old address is belong to your parent or your relative? It's better to keep the old address. IMO, don't make any change will creating more problem, and confuse USCIS, and delaying GC, and SSN for her.

GC should receive in 1 month, and SSN should receive 7 or 8 weeks.

It is my best friend's house. I also thought to keep my old address with the USCIS, and only change the address for bank accounts, driver license, credit card accounts and work. (These changes are gonna prove for applying 10-yrs GC later).

Wow, We will receive SSN from 7-8 weeks? That's too long. Could I go to SSA office and apply it for her? (usually it only takes about 2 weeks if we apply at SSA office). I saw your signature, it said you received SSN in 11 days.

Yeap, my wife received her GC less than 2 weeks, and her SSN less than 4 weeks. We did went to SSA office, not help at all.

This is how it works. Once you received your GC, and GC office will send all your info to SSA. Actually both office are link together with their database. And, SSA will issues SSN to your wife.

OPS.. sorry my mistake.

Should be the other way around. Your received your SSN first, and GC next. SSN and GC, both are link to the same database.

Yup, she came here on July 7. Everything was ok, except we had to buy a lot of stuff for our moving. I'll wait for a few weeks to see what will be coming first. Thanks again.
