A few years ago, the High Court in England and Wales determined that internet forum postings were most likely slander and not libel. However, we would need to have recourse to the laws of the jurisdiction in which this site is hosted in order to determine whether or not this is also the case. It's an interesting distinction to be made when one is considering defamation in the context of a forum -- is this fleeting speech? Or are we publishing for the ages?

Then of course we could all just have a bacon sarnie and hug.

I don't know, Zeddicus. Nowadays, the trend is to dismiss any information as false, under the presumption that doing so is skepticism. Stupidity holds no allegiance to gullibility. One can be just as stupid in their ignorance.

Kindness and good intentions can be an insidious path to destruction. Sometimes doing what seems right is wrong, and can cause harm. The only counter to it is knowledge, wisdom, forethought, and understanding the First Rule. Even then, that is not always enough.
