I received an email from NVC asking for police certificates, but I'd already submitted it(For my region, my current address). Apparently I need one for each of the places I've lived since I was 16!! and they they have to cover the period in which I lived in that area for 6 months +. I am completely clueless as to how to get them. I've live in a lot of places since I was 16 and I'm not sure what to do.. please help me!!

You might want to call them on Tuesday and ask to speak to a supervisor about the checklist you got. It's probably a mistake. My understanding is that Canada has a centralized system and you need only one police clearance certificate; it covers the entire country. Right? Good luck!

I only submitted a RCMP criminal background check and so far, so good.

I got a local police criminal background check done and it says right on it RCMP repository of Canada.

It doesn't need to be done at the RCMP. It needs to have CPIC on it or a search of the national repository. If you have submitted this and they are still asking for something else, call them and see exactly what you need - speak to an operator

good luck

Did you go to your local RCMP to get it done?

No, at my local police station because I was following what it said on the Dept Of State website. Im calling today and asking what they want!.

You can have it done at your local police station or with the RCMP, however, regardless of where you get it from it MUST state that the "Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or the national criminal records repository was searched using the applicants name and date of birth" link

If it does state either of these things and they are rejecting it then, when you call NVC, you need to ask to speak with a supervisor.

Question, was the request for information your received only asking for police cert info, or was there a request for some other information?

I ask because, if you filled in any of the dates of residence lines incorrectly they throw in the police certificate info just to make you aware that you might need additional certificates as well.

Trailmix is correct on the dates of residency. They do not want to see any gaps or discrepancies. Normally if you lived in Canada all your life one police certificate is good.

Read over the RFE carefully, they sent me one for one of the questions on the i-129 app, but also included some stuff about imbra which i had answered correctly the first time as well. Some of the froms are generic and include multiple items, even if answered the first time.
