Hi everyone,

I seem to have a very basic question.

Is K1 visa a Immigrant visa or a Non-Immigrant Visa ?

As I understand this, it is an Immigrant visa and my Interview letter sent with my Packet4 does say so too.

But the DS-156 and DS-156K forms that were also included in the packet say Non-Immigrant visa applications.

Hence the confusion.

can anyone help ?

Also, what is the draft Amount ? is it $355+$400 ? seperate drafts or just a single one ?

The K1 visa is a non immigrant visa. Your spouse has to

readjust his or her status when they come to the U. S. to

become a permanent resident. It is only allowed for one

entry to to the U.S. and you have to get married within 90

days of entering the US. The petition costs $455 from

the US. When it is approved and sent to the embassy there

are additional fees you have to pay. I also don't know which

stage you are at. Are you trying to apply from the US or are you

already approved because it is not clear from the way you

I see from your timeline that your K-1 packet has already been approved by USCIS. That means that you have already sent USCIS $455 as payment for your I-129 packet. It also means that the beneficiary will need to pay a $350 visa fee before the interview. In the case of your country, I do not know where the beneficiary will pay the visa fee...but probably at a local bank.
