Hi!

My son lives in USA and has filed a I-130 for me (his mom, who is living in England). He posted the paperwork to Chicago on 14 March together with the application fee. One week later the money was taken out of his account. It is now July and we have not heard anything. Should we have received an acknowledgement of receipt of the documents or are we just contacted at a later date??

Any advise/info would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Yes, there should have been a receipt notice mailed. Is your son a US Citizen?

Also, on the back of the check, is the USCIS receipt #. he'll need to add 1 to the last number (on the right) then he can look up the case status online at USCIS portal.

It's troublesome that HE'S not received any receipt notice, I-797-C, about this.

He would not have received anything via postal mail if he MOVED after filing the I-130 petition, alas.

So - contact your son, ask him to review all of his mail, he may not even have opened up any receipt notice that he may have received, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi - Thanks for the replies.

Yes my son is a US Citizen. He hasn't moved, but I will get him to check the back of the cheque for the number and look online.

Thanks again for the advise.

Cheers
