I was reading that once you have a K1 visa you and you enter the US you cannot leave without obtaining Advance Parole. I came across that if you have not registered your marriage and filed for an Adjustment of status then you can leave and not have to obtain Advance Parole. Is that true? Alternatively, is it possible to obtain a multiple entry visa to the united states also since the K1 visa is a one-time entry visa only. Can someone please shed some light on this and advise what would be the best way to go about this. I have to leave for a family wedding and wanted to know that is Advance Parole the only option? Thanks!

If you leave on a K-1 without marrying or anything you have to start the process all over again, you can't just re-enter like you never used it. You have to have your 2 year GC or your AP to leave and enter again after you enter on a K-1 visa.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

The K1 is for ONE entry and ONE entry only. You cannot apply for AP until you apply for your AOS. It takes some time to get the AP approval. If you leave after you come in on your K1 visa and have not gotten married, you will have used your chance and will have to start over from scratch, which could make it harder next time, since you chose not to do what you stated you intended to do with the K1 in the first place.

Your best bet is to go to the family wedding BEFORE you come to the US, if you're not here already. If not, file for your AOS as soon as possible and hope that your AP is approved before you need to go to your family wedding.

Maybe one small light being shed is I noticed you are from Canada. I have heard rumor of sometimes you can enter the US without activating the K-1 visa.

Why would you want to enter the US on the K-1 visa the leave again? I understand you want to be with the soon to be hubby quickly but after this long what is another month or two? Wait until after the wedding then start your new life here.

As to the K-1 it is one use only and if you leave before obtaining AP you have to start the visa process all over again.
