With regards to biometrics walk-in

My question today is with regards to biometrics walk-ins. Do they only have specific ASC walk-in locations or it applies for any ASC location?

I have received my biometrics appointment notice and it's for a later date, but after reading reviews on VJ i realizes that applicants walk-in before their appointed date. I want to know how does it work and (or) does it applies to anyone?

Do y'all think that the walk-in biometrics will expedite your process?

Theoretically you should be able to do it anywhere, but some offices are better about it than others. Some won't let you while others sometimes let and sometimes don't. I'm not sure about New Orleans.

I think it helps, but I'm not 100% sure that it expedites the process. I know they can't send certain things (for example, an EAD) until they have your biometrics.

You can take a look at the offices close to you and determine where'd be best for you based on distance (sometimes the Biometrics letter sends you to the closest, sometimes it sends you to the one with less traffic or less appts)

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC

It can hasten your process if you do a walk-in as most letters indicate a date that is a month away so u pretty much gain a week or two of processing time with an early walk-in. For my process, eg. I did my walkin on May 19th instead of the scheduled June 2nd. Because of this, I received my IL by June 7th for July 7th instead of the typical August interview.

It applies to anyone who wants to try. Its alleged that the best time to try is on a Wednesday (less appts scheduled) preferably in the morning.

No, you get scheduled at the ASC that the USCIS has predetermined has jurisdiction over your place of residence based I presume on zip code

YMMV

I couldn't do a walk in because Fairbanks only has a temporary office location. The main office is in Anchorage and it wasn't worth my time going away down there to do it.

I did a walk in on a Wednesday morning, I was asked a couple of questions like, why can't you come on the intended day, where do you live. It just took a little bit of pleasant negotiation. I smiled and said I happened to be in the city that morning, so dropped by, and it would be difficult to come on the original day. He almost sent me away, but I just go through.

If you do a walk in get there early, be one of the first in in the queue at the door before they open.

Take care good luck

Thats true but how many people do walk-ins in whatever office they want to, and are successful. Yes the letter determines the one that is in charge of your area but take me for example, Im the same distance from Philly and Dover offices and hwas scheduled to do Biometrics in Dover but Interview in Philly. So sometimes, I think it varies.
