Hi, everybody, I am pretty new on this forum. I have a situation and I hope somebody could help me with the best possible advice. I had my N400 interview scheduled for June 4th at 1pm. When I went to CIS local office (Orlando), IO asked me what I was doing there since my interview was descheduled. I was shocked when he told me that because I never received any notice. He kept asking what my address is , and I provided it to him as well as other letters received by BCIS during my N400 application (fingeprints notice, interview letter,...)He could not understand how come I never received a descheduling notice letter. He kept saying one of those letter was mailed on May 24th. He apologized and he said he is unable to perform interview because he did not have my file. I left pretty sad :( and confused. I called 1-800 twice. First time a waste, second time a nice IO officer told me she would do a case status request and asked me my email and some other basic info. I did also scheduled an infopass for the following week. I received a quite generic email saying "performing additional review on your case". I went to infopass appointment, nice IO said my file is not here , and he would do a status request as well. Two weeks ago I received a letter on the mail from the National Benefit Center with same wording as email previously received. (performing additional review..)At this point, I am lost and worried :( because I do not know what is going on and BCIS does not come with a detailed answer. Has anybody gone through the same? What could be the reason? Am I on the long wait list now??

If it helps, I applied based on 5 year LPR.

I've heard of someone here on VJ who recently experienced a similar thing.. can't remember the member's name but I believe it was in the AOS March filer forum. This member went to the scheduled interview and was told that the file wasn't there yet.

I will repost once I remember where I saw this. But just wanted to let you know you're not the only one!

I noticed he is on similar situation. He hasn't said what infopass appointment told him. I hope somebody else has another opinion.

Well since you know who your interviewing officer was supposed to be, I'd go to the local office again - not for infopass and talk to him again.

Just another thought.. When did you get you GC? Because I just remembered cases where N-400 interviews were changed because USCIS mistakenly scheduled the original interviews too early - earlier than the 5-year (or 3-year) GC anniversary..

Could this be the case for you?

I have been a LPR since march 2005. I applied for N400 on March 2010. I don't think applying too early is the issue here. About talking with IO who said he did not have my file on my original date, I do not think is an option for me. He wasn't receptive at all and I do not know his name. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Don't worry it happened alot and me too ,

Me just two weeks before my original interview I received a descheduled letter , and just a week later I received a reschedule letter for anther month but I decided to go for original interview but when i get there they told me my file not there yet , so i had to come back in reschedule interview date,

most cases is the files dosn't made it to local office in time , but worst thing if the file is lost .

Good luck.
