MSNBC just slammed him (Stuart Varney ) in an interview -

but I think is PERFECT IDEA.

The Corporate Commission regulates the utilites in AZ - so this would be another piece of the puzzle, give all illegal aliens notice that is bad juju to come into Arizona. Apparently is not just domiciles, but any business where illegal aliens gather, either to work or eat, as well.

see http://www.mediaite.com/tv/az-candidate-barry-wong-proposes-cutting-power-to-homes-of-illegal-immigrants/ for a recent blurb.

xie xie, Mr. Wong !!!

(my apologies if someone else posted this, I did look 3 pages back, only )

for any of you bloggers that want to imbed the video code - here it is:

Personally I think a person's status should be checked anytime you need a credit/ref. check. as long as there are safe guards.

Pardon the pun, but this idea is just wong.

In a hot state like AZ, denial of electricity can mean no environmental control , which is a hazard to life and health. If an individual, or organisation, has the funds to pay for the service, it should not be denied.

I am all for combatting the illegal alien issue, but this is not the wight way, it's the wong way.

(P.S. No offence meant to anyone with a speech impediment)

I suppose it might create a bit of a nightmare for people who are in immigration limbo.

I would suggest they already put their lives in danger the minute they decided to walk across the border from a hot country into a hot state... It's not easy making the trek. I'm sure they could handle a little more heat.

individuals who may be out of status while awaiting immigration proceedings etc.

USCIS is very confusing. After we sent in AOS, Luis's visa was expired and we had nothing saying he was legally here. It was nervewracking. I assume there's other situations that are similar. They should fix that.

Oh. That. The NOA-1, receipt notice for AOS, is the ONE piece of paperwork that you should rely on, until that 'Welcome to United States of America' letter or subsequent 'Green Card Ordered' Letter.

Seriously. NOA-1 trumps all silliness, when required to 'show papers'. Sure, can't do anything WITH IT except to use as proof that you are residing legally in the USA.

But that opens up another can of worms, right ? Anyone here, initially, legally, that has OVERSTAYED their visa, with no visible signs of extension or change of status, hey ! Tis Time To Go !! or file something else, ya ?

I can see that happening with tourist visas, E-2s/E-5s, you betcha. But that still begs the choice of 'adjust or leave', yes?

true. However the NY State DMV apparently didn't think it was good enough proof.

I'm not a big fan of turning utilities off on illegal immigrants though. I blame my motherly instincts and think about the babies and young children that may be in the home. It just doesn't sit right with me.

I really really hate when children suffer for the idiotic acts of their parents.

Right. To be issued a driver's license or state ID. Got It.

Not the same thing as 'proving one is residing legally in the country', though.

Has nothing to do with 'being legal resident of the USA', either.

States' requirements are not Federal Requirements, but sometimes they DO cross, are same, in some instances..

Sorry. I know it sucks, loads...

Not illegal aliens, just those without status in the system such as a K1 holder etc.

not sure about the etc -

but -

can you imagine a K-1 visa holder actually trying to get utilities in their own name?

Most USC fiance's and then later-Spouse's take care of that.

Sure, many get it in joint name, after green card in hand (the time-tick where it makes SENSE to make joint account for utilites, btw )

Is some issue on a K-1 visa holder ? Truly ?

Sort of. Joint name on utilities was one of our few things we showed for AOS.
