The article is wrong as far as it goes because it is a political hack job, and does not reflect reality. Not sure how to put it any kinder than that. [Your OP that is.]

Does not reflect reality?

As I said, tell me where the article is wrong.

Is it a hack job because it's pointing out actual taxes that are going to go into effect all at once? I mean because I haven't found one bit it's being dishonest about. You could feel free to point out where it's wrong on which taxes are going to go up and which new ones are going to be implemented..

Who wants to pay more taxes? I certainly don't want to end up Argentina or a third world country.

Higher taxes are the only way to pay for the bills. Not raising taxes will result in the entire country ending up a California.

California's taxes are actually quite high.... Raise them any more and it's scary.

California has a drunk spending problem. Funny thing being, so does congress. Who's the Speaker of the House? A drunk woman from California!

I'm not saying the language in the OP isn't sounding like a hack, but at the same time not one bit of it is wrong as it stands now.

If no action is taken, that is exactly how it stands...

So now your avatar pays homage to a man who organized illegal aliens in this country?

He's a USA hating, guilt laden idiot.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

California's problem is that they can't raise taxes even if it meant that doing so would help their economy.

Sure, government overspending is a problem - but trying to reduce a budget deficit of that size purely by spending cuts is disastrous.

Obama promised a lot of things (just like every other politician out there). and I'm enjoying the "i told you so moments" I get to have with all of my moron friends who voted for this guy.....

I am so enjoying how I can stand in the common areas anywhere at work days and proclaim the anti-** gospel among dozens of Obama voters and have NO ONE challenge me coz they are so inarticulate as to why voted for the guy in the first place. I've even motivated a few converts to conservatism. It's absolutely glorious! Like shooting fish in a barrel

Steve, here is the line ----- and you blew right past it!

Cesar Chavez did not organize illegal aliens. He actually hated them, reported them to immigration, and started a Minuteman group to stop them at the border. The Left has misappropriated his image and legacy and created revisionist history around Chavez to morph him into an illegal hero when he was not like that at all.

Not only are you baiting here and going completely off topic, but you are being ridiculous. By your logic, you couldn't possibly like Reagan for all his achievements because you take a more extreme view on immigration. I'll ask you kindly to stop before appropriate action is taken. If you'd like to create your own thread discussing the achievements of Caesar Chavez, go right ahead, but baiting me in this thread or any other one over my avatar is childish and below you.

Depends on what you cut... People got by without social program XYZ before and they could do it again. Sometimes you have to cut expenses in certain areas because you simple cannot afford them anymore.

If a business is in bad debt and broke they have to go bankrupt and more than likely go out of business OR reduce their load heavily... If the government is in the same situation, they just find new taxes or ways to make sure they get more of their money or someone elses. It's bullshit really at the end of the day.

I thought it was common knowledge that the Bush tax cuts were not being renewed...

If people are "surprised" now, perhaps they need to pull the cotton wool out of their ears and take the blindfold off.

The vast majority of people don't have a damn clue as to what's going on in the political world. People are happy to be paying less taxes, but they'll hardly expect cuts to expire..

The Death tax is to funny..what are they going to tax next?... Air?

Well, it's a good 'idea' for the government to make more money and to keep 'unearned' money from others lol..

I mean think about when someone like Donald Trump or Oprah dies... with the death tax, that's a extra couple of billion dollars that doesn't get sucked up from other tax payers... Their heirs to the estate still get several hundred million if not a billion dollars...

My problem with government though as usual is having these taxes and not being responsible in the way they spend the money..

Taxes would be ALOT lower if government knew how to spend accordingly. You and I have a budget and have to stick to it... they do not. They have a "budget" but we all know they don't stick to it and it's an unaffordable one at that.
