hi everyone..i received my 2-yr GC last June and im wondering if I will be allowed to leave the country (let's say Canada)without a tourist visa??all i have is the GC...will that suffice everything??what requirements are needed to travel outside the US...

You will need an up-to-date passport that is valid for more than 6months at the time of travel. Not sure if you need a tourist visa thought.

It depends on the country. I don't think Canada requires one for people from the USA.

The Green card gets you back into the U.S.

If the country you are visiting does not require a Visa for a U.S. Citizen or the home country, no problem.

My wife has made 5 trips to and from Brasil on her 2 year green card, her Brasilian passprt gets her into Brasil, without avisa and her green card gets her back into the U.S. Not a problm one.

The GC will get you into Canada but the airline requires the passport. Have a great trip!

You don't need a visa to go to Canada and Mexico if you have a valid GC and passport.

You will be fine to enter these countries proving you are a permanent resident of the US:

"persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence;"

hi there...yes we are contemplating on visiting that marvelous and famous scenic spot...we might just take the car for a 10-12 hour drive because we are located in Wisconsin...its a sure long trip..but now i know i dont need a tourist visa since i got my GC...thanks everyone for ur time to reply to this post..its a great help...

You may travel outside US. Points to keep in mind is that you are still a national of your country. You just have an added status (ALIEN RESIDENT of USA). Some countries will still need visas based on the passport of travel despite the green card.
