Hello Yardies!

There is finally an explanation to this madness!! There so many, many people at the Criminal Records Office on Duke Street yesterday. Please see link to the news item from the Jamaica Obsever here

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/Suspected-fraud-at-police-records-office_7762071

I went to get a new police record 7/1 since the one I submitted to the NVC was dated 4/23 and the Embassy wants one dated June 14 or later. It was crazy to say the least. I slept in Kingston overnight, and got to the Ministry of National Security at 6:45am. It opened at 7:30am. I was out of there by 7:40 as I was the forth person. About 20 persons came in after me while I was there. I got to Duke Street by 7:55am. When I got there my number was in the 60's. LOL. I waited in the line outside 'til 8:30am when they opened. Was able to filter in as soon as they opened and got a seat in the reception area. It took me an hour or so to get from that area to the inside where I was given the paper to complete and get the pictures stapled to the forms.

To cut a long story short, I got my fingerprints take at 2:45pm. Yup. They were processing on average 6 persons per hour. It was a looooooonnnnnng day. When I was leaving there were about 25 or more persons standing outside who were waiting to get in and they close at 3:30pm. When I went in April I got there within the same timeframe and I was out of there by 9:30am. Remember to take food items to snack on as well as juice/water to keep you hydrated and your energy level up. That helped me to remain calm and not get irritated by the long wait.

If you have an interview anytime soon remember that the express wait will now be 5 days as opposed to three days.

Good luck everyone - I still get to collect it on 7/6. But whoever gets their prints taken oas of 7/5 will need to wait 5 days for "express."

Did they make you pay for the new record? It seems to me that people who have paid for a police record should be given a new one free of charge - it's their screwup not yours

My husband had to obtain a new police record but they did not charge him. However, they did charge other persons who were there to obtain their second police record. I think that it depends on when you obtained the first record. Hope this helps
