Hi,

I hope someone can help me....I need to know if a police clearance is required for my mom who worked

in Malaysia on 08/20/89 - 08/20/90 exactly 1 year . My understanding is that this is only required for

an applicant staying in another country for MORE than 1 year. Am I right? I am really concern because

it takes more than 3 months to acquire such document from Malaysia.

Has anyone came across with the same problem? ....Please extend your knowledge if you have..

Appreciate it!

Thanks,

Rowell

Hie there, I really don't know if your mom needs the police clearance from Malaysia, but IF she does, I can help with some info. (I just applied for the letter of good conduct [police clearance in Malaysia] about 3 weeks ago myself.) And if I'm not wrong, it takes roughly one to two months for the letter of good conduct, NOT three months. Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more info.

December 2009 -- Visit to Malaysia.

February 2010 -- Applied for B2 visa, approved.

March 2010 -- Visited US.

April 2010 -- Returned from US.

May 2010 -- Sent in K1 Visa application.

July 2010 -- Received NOA2 in 71 days from NOA1.

July 2010 -- Packet 3 received.

August 2010 -- Cancellation of K1 Visa application.

Thanks Firedragonfly for your info.. I was hoping we would get the police clearance in less than a month..Is there any way to expedite this ? Do you know who we can call or contact to follow up our application?

I think it has to be between one month and two months... I doubt it can be expedited, but you could try asking. Another Malaysian VJer gave me this name and number, but I've never called her so I don't know what it's like. My friend also said that she's a meanie, so beware ;)

Ms. Umi. +603-8887-4264, fax +603-8890-4235.

I think you should only call her AFTER you send in the application, and ONLY after 3 weeks. Better if after one month.

All the best!
