I am an American living in Thailand for 3+ years and I have a Burmese [ Myanmar ] fiancee who lives with me. I have been trying to marry her for almost 2 years by going through the Thai and Myanmar government and after many trips to Bangkok and Rangoon I know-- it can't be done. Believe me I could write a book about it and was recently told by a lawyer " it is vertually impossible", the Burmese government won't allow it

She is currently here on a one year education visa.

My question is .. can she process through the Bangkok Embassy for a I-129F visa ?? Does the fiancee have to file [?] process [?] her visa through her home country ?

A lawyer tells me he can do it but it's complicated and would cost me over $ 2000.00 which I think is a rip off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

I-129F doesnt process at bangkok it proesses at USCIS. She would have her interview wherever she lives. The I-129F is expencive even without a lawyer. The US citizen has to apply for the person. She cant apply for herself.

Sorry, I should have said interview in Bangkok not process. I know I have to send the I-129F packet to USCIS in the states and will do so soon if I am reasonably sure she can and doesn't have to return to Burma. Thanks INKY

If your still living there with her have you looked into DCF? if thats a possibility? It might be a better option for you guys but if your moving back to US soon and dont have time to DCF then I-129F would be good rout to go.
