All,

Thanks to everyone for the great information regarding the visa process. Last July, my husband (then boyfriend) and I started the K1 visa process. We met in 2001 and have been together since.

Fast forward to today..... K1 approved, EAD approved and AP approved all in less time then stated on the website.

So today we had a 10:10 appointment for our AOS interview. We didn't think this was going to be hard as we've been together for quite some time. Our interviewer was very to the point and the first thing he asked Lars was "Where do you live?" For whatever reasons, he said "Right now?" and the interviewer asked if he was living somewhere else or planned to. This interviewer kept peppering him with questions, even in the middle of him speaking and was getting both of us flustered.

The interview lasted 10 minutes and concluded with the interviewer saying would make his decision. I asked when that would be and he told us he has 120 days to make his decision.

We didn't feel the interview went very well despite proof of our marriage (marriage certificate, income much greater then the 125% of poverty, wedding photos, joint checking account). Has anyone been denied AOS because the interviewer didn't like what he heard? Or is it like in other phases where an RFE is given. And if denied, then what?

I'm sure we'll be fine and it was just nervousness, but it seems like everyone else was told approval during their interview (or had none).

Any information is welcome.

Yes people get denied based on the interview. If it noone ever got denied, why would they even bother with the interview? Their questions are designed to uncover realities that are not seen in the documentary evidence. If you look in the news today, another visa fraud ring was exposed. The story involving fraud rings for the past few years have disclosed that the rings are very aware of the documentary evidence required for successful AOS and they make sure that part is complete. The interviewer is trying to look beyond that.

Since this is an AOS from a K1, if it is denied you can appeal. If you are denied after an appeal, then you are deported.

Noone should take the AOS interview lightly.

We also had an interview with a lot of nervousness but the interview took at the most 10 minutes and the interviewer stated that she will mail the decision in a couple of weeks but it has been 3 weeks and 1 day since then and nothing has been sent to us. USCIS has started to sent interview results instead of informing you that same day, hope this gives you a little piece of mind :D

Hang in there, if you are denied, you can always appeal it. Good Luck to you (F)

We had a bad experience during our interview but all went well and she received her card in about 2 1/2 weeks
