There have been a number of posts lately, in common with yours, that get ignored by the wing nuts on the board but they don't comport well with their drug-fueled (tea is a drug, right?) perspective. It doesn't mean that the rest of us aren't noticing and approving.

Huh, funny how everyone gets up in arms over the ACLU and illegals and yet this very valid case gets ignored....oh well.

I dont agree with every aspect of the ACLU especially immigration.

But I do not rememebr speaking out in a manner that would suggest they do no good.

I believe the values they support are often to liberal/progressive.

This is a case where they are excuting in a manner o which I agree.

ACLU is a civil rights group which stands up for civil rights of everyone: Christians, Jews, Gays, Muslims, Children, Humans, Immigrants, Mexicans, Haitians, etc.

Wingnuts like their own civil rights but they don't like other people having the same rights.

Wingnuts like their own civil rights but they don't like other people having the same rights. (very misinformed)

Your almost there.

Specifically the rights of a group versus the indiidual rights of a person.

So if their cause is for a specific group of people you do not belong to they typically want to infringe upon your individual rights.

Conservatives belive in individual rights for everyone and everyone shares the same rights.

Liberals believe in rights of groups over individual rights.

This country was formed to protect the individual rigths of its people. Those same rights were to be given to every citizen to share and protect.

Yeah what a fantastic job the ACLU has done towards promoting democracy and improving the overall Q.O.L for Americans. The best example of this beacon for humanity is them suing behind the closed door of a courtroom, basically to force their ideology and agenda onto others.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Given the reference to "a well regulated Militia" and "the security of a free State," the ACLU has long taken the position that the Second Amendment protects a collective right rather than an individual right. For seven decades, the Supreme Court's 1939 decision in United States v. Miller was widely understood to have endorsed that view.

The Supreme Court has now ruled otherwise. In striking down Washington D.C.'s handgun ban by a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court's 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller held for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, whether or not associated with a state militia.

The ACLU disagrees with the Supreme Court's conclusion about the nature of the right protected by the Second Amendment. We do not, however, take a position on gun control itself. In our view, neither the possession of guns nor the regulation of guns raises a civil liberties issue.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The ACLU is suing to end the No Fly list on the grounds that it's unconstitutional. Opposing its rank status as stupidly managed is only common sense, but that it should not exist at all is debatable. Certainly, there are people who should not be allowed to board a plane, so not having a No Fly list is not in the interest of national security. The ACLU is not interested in what is best for national security or even what is best for national cohesion. They are interested in imposing a Leftist agenda on everyone, and there is nothing about this case that deviates from that edict.
