This sucks, even though case complete on June 25, 2010, they said we missed the August interview month. Now we have to wait for the second week of August to see if we will get a September Interview.

I thought EP was on different queue, but i guess not for the F2A category............

Conversely, it proves that *I* know what I'm talking about :D

----

But seriously - ya - about 1 week after 'final review' is completed, the NVC backroom staffers schedule the interview. Once that is done, an email is sent, same day or next day.

Yay !

Darnell,

YOU DA MAN :)

but seriously, those NVC operators are a little useless, i called after the 3:00 PM update, and they said missed July.

I was thinking its not all bad because the cheapest plane ticket is $2000 to HK right now.

So instead of a family trip, its just my mother in law going. This weekend, I made sure she has everything she needs for the interview.

Do you know if they will receive an interview package via mail in china? or do i just print out the IV Packet 4 from the Guangzhou website for them.

Also, know of any websites for cheaper airline tickets for NYC to HKG?

packet 4 usually is sent, but is better, IMO, to take that appointment letter,

all the forms from the Guangzhou website,

and handle all HERSELF.

re:tickets? websites? no -

but I do know of ticket agents that are cheaper than any portal.

there's a website url in my profile, come find me, find it, (click something) look around a bit - we've several topics there for ticket agents that are really cheap and provide good service. Conversely, can utilize Asian Ticket Agents in NYC, usually get 'as good' rates as the ticket agents listed on that other portal. The easiest way to find them? Grab a Chinese Newspaper, several issues, look at the classified ads for ticketing (hard to miss, always no need to translate, as they have sample fares/routing codes there) and call in. When you get prices, have MIL call back and haggle some more (she's good at that, I know this ! ) .

I know of no direct routing to HKG from NYC, alas - usually 'things' jump from LAX, SFO, and sometimes Seattle.

There is direct jump from NYC to PEK, of course.

There are also direct flights from LAX to GUZ via China Southern, then Continental jump from LAX to NYC.

'braindead NVC employees' ? yup - I covered that in the wiki topic, a bit. The trick is to pull them out of 'automatic listening' mode, confuse them a bit, and demand, softly, for a supervisor.

whoa.

yup - this will be painful. someone (mother or GUZ IV) orders the DNA kit from USA, is sent to GUZ IV.

GUZ IV schedules appointment to have applicant get swabbed.

swab is sent out to USA testing facility .

Results are sent back to GUZ IV

GUZ IV reviews results

if 'ok' - GUZ IV schedules another intake/interview/passport drop off.

expect a wait of 4 to 18 months, from start to finish.

Here's the last VJ/China member that I'm aware of, that got hit with DNA test on fiance's daughter - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/61383-okie2/ and there's some nuggets buried at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/234021-you-think-your-waiting-is-long/

worst part is Mother In Law stuck in Hong Kong with no seat available until September 15.

Called the NJ testing site, $995 and will only accept appointment after if MIL is on the phone in USA.

All this because GUZ saw a family photo of the family and the brother and sister (my wife) are 13 years apart, and my wife is holding the baby.

Guess they think that a 13 year old girl can give birth to a baby boy in China.........

whatever........4 to 18 months that is a long wait.........

oh - how very strange.

MIL not remain in China, not go back to GUANGZHOU IV and ORDER and pay for the DNA testing kit? OUCH.

Well hey - tell her to get into copy shop in HKG on Saturday morning, scan all 'stuff' that GUZ IV gave her, email to you from the copy shop. There should have been some 'established process' for her to order the kit in Guangzhou, at the IV unit.

Not heard of the test being done in USA, with petitioner IN USA, but hey - if 'clear path' already, then go forth.

The 'long lag time' for this testing, is mostly because of lags at GUANZHOU IV for 'getting it done' - all this ####### has to be scheduled (schedule to order the kit, schedule to take the swab, schedule to return after results show up) - so is huge scheduling issues, nothing immediate.

If she can get stuff done in USA, IMO this removes 2/3s of the 'scheduling issues' at GUZ IV, so maybe she'll get some speed. Maybe. I'd view it as

--swab in USA

--results done

--results sent to GUZ IV

then it's up to GUZ IV to schedule the 'last thing' .

was the child's swab done yet? If MIL is stuck in HKG - hey ! get to pharmacy there, purchase DNA evidence kit, get back into China, have the kid swabbed before she jumps on the plane, send off the kit to the testing lab with copy of bio pages (child and MIL), GUZ IV notice, and some signed forms (available for d/l and email to her) from the testing facility.

Got the documents, will share it when i get home, but by the time the DNA kit arrives in GUZ and GUZ schedule, the testing sites state that it would be impossible to make September 15.

They need a three way DNA test, mother , father and son.

Father is in USA. This was recommended by two testing sites. Mother and Father take swabbing in new york together.

Results sent to GUZ then schedule Son for swabbing.

Both testing site indicate that they would not accept the Pharmacy DNA Testing kit.

In order to unsure accuracy, the testing site technicians must take the swab from the Mother and Father.

Strange that one site charges $995 while the other charges $650. why such a range.

Thanks for all your info though.
