giving up hope for Aug.

This post is just going to be a downer, and won't be of help to anyone--so I apologize for that in advance. I just need to share my distress.

We filed our I-130 in Sept. of 2009, so, needless to say, we're thinking the process should be coming to an end by now. But we are still waiting for an interview date. I started to feel hopeful the other day when a couple of August CR1/IR1 interviews were announced...but, since there have been no more since then, I'm about ready to give up.

As some of you know, I'm pregnant and due in the beginning of October, so I won't be able to fly to Montreal in Sept. So, I figure I'm pretty much screwed. I'm probably going to have to reschedule my interview (if they ever do get around to assigning one), and then god only knows how long that'll take.

Do you think I'll be reunited with my husband by Christmas? January?

I know trailmix suggested that I try to get help from my husband's congresswoman...but so far her staff member we contacted just basically said "good luck with your case"

It's nice, isn't it, when even federal officials regard legal immigration as a matter of LUCK? :(

I feel like my life is going down the drain. I should never have staked anything on this process.

mtlgato, I am so sorry. It is a brutal process. There is still some slim hope for an August date, but I know it is hard to be optimistic about anything to do with the CR-1 process.

Have you tried your senator? Maybe you will get a better response from him/her?

I have my fingers crossed for you.

(F) Sorry this process is taking its toll on you. I wish there was a magic trick for Montreal, but they are not the most linear with everything...

Sending you good vibes anyways!

Thank you. We did contact one of my husband's US senators, but we have not heard back from her yet at all. Her office specified that we had to contact her via snail mail (with a whole detailed concent form with my husband's signature, etc.). It's been about 3 weeks now...but I guess our forms could possibly be stuck in the mail room still, or something like that.

My husband's state is California, though...which has a population of about 30,000,000, last time I checked...and tons and tons of immigrant cases. So I doubt that our case will get any special attention.

It's just so frustrating how much it all has to do with LUCK, though. There are definitely lots of Candians who filed their I-130 in November who ended up with July interviews, and there's just no reason we shouldn't have had a July interview too :(

Anyway, thanks again for your nice note.

It would take something like 5 days to drive to Montreal from Vancouver. And, if I did go into labour, odds are it would be in the middle of nowhere. Bad idea.

Many airlines don't allow pregnant women to fly after 36 or 37 weeks gestation. Plus, my doctor has told me not to fly after Sept. 1.

I sent my doctor's note to NVC, which forwarded it to the consulate. But they just do not give a damn.

C.

Could you not fly after a month+ ??

or would it be possible to drive there?
