AC compressor is broke

hello guys its been 3 days already that our AC's not working. becuz the compressor is broke. My question is how much do you think just to install the compressor, since we got a brand new AC compressor? pls. input here. thanks.

You can go to autozone.com and enter in your car's make, model, year and get the exact cost of new AC compressor. Make sure you check out some other website also.

How bout calling an AC guy for a quote?

return the compressor. call a contractor & ask about installing a complete unit.

just guessing - the compressor was $600 - $900 depending on type & brand.

labor + parts + freon you're looking @ about $600 - $1000 depending on type & brand.

a new unit (3.5 ton..1500 sq ft house) will likely cost you $900 - $1300 depending on brand.

labor + parts....roughly $600 - $900 to install. most home units come precharged w/ freon. + you'll get a warranty w/ the contractor. contractors will not warranty others parts. if the compressor shells...you'll have to pay labor & install again.

you'll be $300 - $600 deaper into it. but, warranty & piece of mind is worth it.

I would think an HVAC company would charge a couple hundred bucks - if not more - (especially if they don't get to sell you the part), but there are a ton of independent techs out there that would probably do it for less.

Check Craigslist in your area, but buyer beware (choose wisely in other words).

size of A/C unit

then warranty on A/C unit

then if compressor already replaced once before, warranty on new compressor.

If you are DIY person, you should check out the wholesale suppliers in your area.

but - JUST THE COMPRESSOR INSTALL - should be a bit less than 200 bucks, from a licensed technician. Might be able to negotiate the price downwards, if try to barter with special home-cooked food.
