Recent and Imminent POEs

Hubby and I are going back in one week. I want to make sure we understand what to do at POE in terms of the SSN. Basically make sure he is in the SAVE system (whatever that is) and wait 2 weeks? If no SSN in 2 weeks then go and apply? Do we have to wait 2 weeks? I go back to work then and it would be better if we go down before school starts up again. The SS offices where you can do that in my area are all about an hour away.

They recommend you wait 14 days to see if the SSN comes in (if you marked YES on the DS230) and because all the systems need to sync up. I had a prior SSN and even then, they wouldn't see me till 14 days had passed since POE. Some folks have been able to make the request earlier though, so I'd say it depends on your local office. If it's an hour away, I'm guessing you don't want to make multiple trips. Best to go after 14 days so they don't ask you to return in two weeks.

Got my Green Card in the mail today!!

So now we have kind of a timeline, 2 days after your second welcome letter your GC shows up, such a F'd up timeline!

Hobo, I'm so sorry for all the problems you'r having, I can't imagine how much it must suck! I really hope they'll straighten it out soon.

So, what's the concensus of the whole carrying it on you at all times?

I know it says you should, but should we really? It kinda feels a little scary to carry something that important with you at all times..

Here's what I'm doing. I'm carrying my passport with me all the time since the visa in it is valid till November.

It'd be far easier and cheaper to replace my passport in case it got lost than it would be to replace the GC.

I'll probably carry my GC around after November.

Mrs. Wife - POEd June 2nd - Didn't receive anything yet.

Sachinky - Received Welcome letter 33 days after POE.

Yohino - Received Welcome letter 31 days after POE.

Helloooo lovely ladies! My little alien POEd June 4, got the welcome letter....July 7(ish) and today the website is changed to...

"Document production or Oath Ceremony

On July 8, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

Will let you know when we get anything in the mail. He got his SScard last week in the mail as well. But after not getting it after 3 weeks, he re-applied for a new one at the end of June.....so maybe that kicked the GC into production? Don't know, life it good!! He's taking his CA driver's license test as we speak and will be working on his professional licenses ASAP next week....We actually went to look at some houses to buy too, scary! I can't wait for the World Cup to be over so he will stop acting like a drooling zombie staring at the TV :rofl: At least he mows the lawn and waters the garden during commercials

I waited about 4 weeks after POE, and when my SSN still hadn't shown up, I went to the office with my passport w/ visa and applied for one. Got it 6 days after that.

To add on to things hubby has not received; we went to SSO like 2 wks ago & still nothing from them!

Yaaaaaaaaay. Just received my Green Card! Came in the mail today! It's green! And shiny! I love it! I'm so excited!

Hubby called twice & was told he is not in the system yet. But actually 2nd time he called he was told to go to the local office they would know more. Problem is hubby is working so much that we dont have time I hate that I cant call USCIS on his behalf. I would be bugging them every single day!

Sorry to hear about your wife! Maybe she got allergies or something? Being everything (food, detergin, soap, etc) in US is new for her.

It's just sooo ridiculous! I'm so over this BS!!!

I finally made an infopass appointment for July 26th. Hopefully I'll receive something by then because I really don't want to go to the office. I did my homework very well, why can't they do theirs???????????????
