I went to the neighbor's apt and it was the 3rd welcome letter... jezzz

So now it's only missing the green card.

Hi everyone!

I went to the SS Office today to see what's going on with my SSN.

He said "IT WASN'T ISSUED" :o so I had to filled out the application form and applied today. I have to wait an another 1 or 2 weeks to get my SSN card...

He said it happens sometimes but he doesn't know why... but I still had to wait at least 21 days since POE because they can't do anything before that...

It sucks...my husband said "Welcome to the U.S.A. You have to get used to it"...but I don't know if I can get used to it or not...

I need my SSN then I can start working!!!

and an another news...I received my first Welcome Letter today dated 07/24/2010...I checked on the USCIS website to see my case status...it was still "Initial Review"

...hope I will receive my green card soon...

Congrats on the POE's, GC's, and SSN's!

Ok, so we decided to go down to the social security office last week because it is a mile from my mom's house and we were going for a visit. They told us that we had to wait 30 days before we could apply for my husband's number. My question is what's the real number? Some here have been told 14 days, I saw a post here where they were told 21 days and we were told 30??? We have a second office within driving distance. Would it be worth it to go there after 14 days so we don't get the same worker? Or do we really have to wait 30 days to see if it comes in the mail?

Also, the lady at the SS office said the POE should have given my husband a paper, which they did not. What paper was she talking about? She didn't believe us when we said we didn't receive anything other than the stamp in my husband's passport, which was a little frustrating.

we went thru a similar situation with my wife. in our case, they lumped her middle name and last name together in the visa and passport, but it is the corretc way with uscis. so when we applied with SS, they told us that they would need to verify with the uscis, but have us a letter saying that she was obviously eligible to work and could do so in the time she was waiting for the card. that was acceptable to her current company (she started her new job today), but they did tell her that they couldnt pay her until she got her SS, for the tax with-holding, which is fine by us, b/c she'll probably get the card within the next 2 weeks. i would go back to the SS and ask them for kind of letter...

Thank you! Do you know the name of the letter or the form number at all? Or is it just an eligibility to work form? We wouldn't care either if they had to delay the paychecks until he gets his number. It would just be great to let him go for it on the job search. But, we're in Arizona so we have special immigration laws where companies can get into real trouble if they hire anyone who is illegal so I don't know anyone here would be willing or not. We'll have to see.
