Jezzzzz today was such an awful day!!!

I went to the SS office to get the I-verify BS figured out and when I came back my boss said that HR said if I don't bring my GC by Tuesday I couldn't be able to work there anymore! #######????????????????????

I was so mad you guys! This is not even legal!!! I AM elegible to work, arghhhhh

The HR lady messed up so bad that she confused SSN CARD with GC!!!! Then I talked to her, gave the receipt that SSA gave me proving I went there and she said that would be enough. That the only issue was the name not matching! Arghhhhhh, so why she tells my boss that they would terminate my employment if I didn't bring the GC next week??????? :bonk:

It's crazy!!!!! People really need to start getting things together before saying stuff. I almost cried, so worried!!!!

I was sooo going to sue them if they had fired me because of this. This is not even legal.

Anyway, she said that now everything is fine, but I'm still worried! We never know what to expect after this whole mess. I'm afraid she comes on Tuesday and say that they will fire me!!! I'm already being fired on my head!!!!

I got home and guess what was on the mail???????????? The freaking welcome letter!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually 2!!!

One is dated July 15 and the other July 20.

On the website it says: Document production or Oath Ceremony

On July 20, 2010 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

So what does that mean? That my GC was mailed on the 20th or the Welcome letter? Maybe they mailed both on July 20th and I got my welcome letter and not my GC yet?

I called USCIS this morning again, and she said she made an inquiry on my behalf asking the service center to mail my GC again. I asked her if I could go and pick it up and she said no mam!

I guess there is nothing I can do anymore. This is so exhausting!!! It was hard already when I was just waiting, but now this is interfering on my job!

I'm so tireddddddddddddddddddd, I'm ready for some tequila's shots right now!

BUUUUUUUUUULSHITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT :girlwerewolf2xn:

yikes! well if they dare fire you, you've got a sure fire lawsuit on your hands (heck, might even make you rich!). on the other hand, congrats on getting the letter - you can obviously take that in as further proof. i think you're ok at this point, though...

today we went to the SS office. the lady couldn't find anything saying they had sent the SS card or not. she said it may be in the mail. so we did the form to request one.

that one would be here in 2 weeks or something he said. if the other one is already coming we will get a phone call from the SS office or something. don't know what you do if it happens.

gonna call USCIS at the end of this week if we don't get a welcome letter or anything by the end of this month....

Nat--That means your GC production has been ordered! Hopefully, you will get it in the mail in a day or two!

Good luck--I hope you can sort things out with HR with the 'welcome letter.'

I don't even understand why they're causing problems. Did you take the I-9 form and show them that it states that the I551 stamp is proof enough?

Just had the *same* experience at the French consulate - I showed them my visa and stamp in the passport, they look at it and say "zis is not a green card" in their stupid French accent (no offense to the French, I love French culture, speak French and we were going to go there for vacation... I am just really pissed at them right now!). Argh!!! Was trying to explain but they just don't get it! Can't wait for the damn card to arrive already. SOOOO annoying to have to deal with this and have to prove that I have a green card, I just haven't received the actual plastic card yet...

So, I wake up in the morning and checked my FB page. A girl wrote me asking if I live on the address bla bla bla.

I think it's weird, but reply, yes I do. Why? Are we neighbors?

And she replies: I received a letter on your name 2 days ago from Homeland & Security. I live on the building bla bla bla and the letter came to my place (she is my neighbor but thought I used to live in her apt).

I immediately contact her and ask her to keep the mail so I could go there and pick it up after work. She tells me that she left to work but she put the letter back in her mail box to return to the post office!!!! :o

I wanted to kill myself!

So she tells me that maybe her bf is there, so if I wanted to come over and tell him to open the mail box and give me my correspondence. I run home on my lunch break and he is not there. I write a note and stick it to her mail box asking USPS to get it and bring it to my mail box.

When I finish the my note the mail lady comes in. I couldn't believe I was going to rescue my GC from my neighbor's mail box.

She asks my ID and gives me the letter!!!!!!!!

So to my surprise it was ANOTHER welcome letter!!!!!!!!!! :bonk: :bonk:

Also, the awesome USCIS employees printed the label and instead of putting building 8955 they put 8935!!!!!!!!!! They mistyped my address!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inside the letter was the correct number, but since the person had to make the label he mistyped my street number!!!!!!

How stupid are these people??????????????????????????? Mistyping such an important document??????

Anyway, I wanted to die!!! I came home on my lunch break hoping to get my GC and it was the 3rd welcome letter!

Ok, I already feel very welcome to the country, can we please deliver my freaking card now??????????

Sorry about all the problems....hope it will all work out soon...

As for us, we finally received hubby's green card yesterday the 26th....but the weird thing is....when he tried to register for selective service online (He's 24 years old), it said that there's a problem with his SSN....we're now worrying if the SSN office somehow have 2 numbers for him or what....sigh...so confusing.

Geez, Nat--this is turning into quite the 'comedy of errors.' I'm sure your GC is on its way!

As for us, we got into Albuquerque, NM a couple of hours ago. Mr. Sachinky's passed out. He drove nearly 30 hours in 3 days. Poor boy! Since I don't have my license yet, I couldn't drive so I mostly slept and sang loud Bollywood numbers on our trip. My wonderful FIL got us rooms at the Marriott for five days so we'll be here till Sunday! It's such a treat, it feels like we are on a lovely vacation. Tomorrow, though, we are going apartment-hunting!

Hope everyone's week is going as great as ours! :)

any luck with calling the idiots at uscis??? perhaps you can escalate the call to a real officer and get some answers? this sucks...were you ever able to get a hold of your neighbor's bf? btw, u should verify ur address w/ uscis and make sure they dont screw up again! :bonk:

well my wife has a letter from the SS office saying that she'll be granted a # after they verify her status with uscis, but she can work in the time that she's waiting for the card. her place of work basically said that she'll likely get paid after she gets her card, which we think will be in a week to 2 weeks. i'm hoping the card comes next week itself, which i think it will (keeping fingers crossed!).

we also did call uscis and they also agreed that she should have rec'd her welcome letter and are delayed. i guess that's in a vaccuum for now. but the GC is not a sticking point for her employers, so that's a good thing.

best of luck merkie!!!   jfk was very easy for me and my wife, since the time we were the only flight in at the time we arrived at that gate/terminal (friday evening). so very short wait (10 min i think). the officers were even helpful w/ our bags, although our actual IO seemed rather disinterested and bored. hopefully you'll have a similar experience!
