I don't think driving to Dulles airport and trying to talk to border patrol will help since afaik it's out of their hands at this point, but talking to USCIS during business hours and asking what's going on will be a good idea... you can do it on your lunch break so you won't have to take time off. Also, on the USCIS website they recommend calling them if it's been 30 days since you've been approved and you still haven't received anything. I would do that first and maybe the Infopass, unless you don't want to take time off of work?

I know, it's taking forever, and the stamp in the passport is not viewed as a "legitimate" green card by pretty much everybody, ugh. So annoying! I just want it to be over with already :(

I think it's the summer months so it's taking longer than normal, but based on other timelines in this thread we should be getting our things soon... will keep my fingers crossed! :)

I called them already and the lady said I should make a infopass. So I realized they say that to anybody if it's been more than 30 days since POE. She didn't help me at all. I'll try to call tomorrow again first thing in the morning, will try to be more persuasive and see if they can give me any real information.

The closest infopass office is 30 minutes away, so I don't think I can get it done on my lunch break.

- I sat an appointment for next Monday at 9:15am when I didn't know I was already employed. I'll check with HR if they let me go. It was the closest date and they don't have any available date for this month.

My SSN is also messed up because it's still on my maiden name. So HR people put my name on the system as married and of course it didn't match

So now they gave me 8 federal days to go to the SS office and solve this. Oh yeah, as if it was up to me! I went there already too and she said she had updated it, but I suppose they have to wait for USCIS's input or something like that.

Everything is sooo messed up!

I just made an InfoPass as well and the earliest they have is August 2nd... :( Hopefully will get some good news before then!

When I spoke to USCIS they took my information - receipt #, my name, address, etc., and told me they created a case number for me to send to my local office. Maybe you should call back tomorrow and ask them to do the same? I am not sure if this is better than InfoPass but maybe it will be another venue and they will get moving if they get multiple requests?

Sorry to hear about your trouble with the maiden/married name and the papers! Hopefully they resolve it soon :)

I will try to do the same then. Maybe creating a case would help somehow.

This is so annoying! All my papers are in order, I don't understand why is taking so long!

Anyway, good luck to you and let's keep on praying! I'll make a promise to immigration's saint to see if she at least can do something for me! :innocent:

This is what I did. I called my POE and spoke to a supervisor who was able to tell me exactly when my case-file was shipped out.

I then called USCIS the next day, told them that my papers had been shipped to them by O'Hare many weeks ago -- "what do you mean I'm not in the system?" -- I was then put through to an actual immigration officer who was able to tell me when USCIS received my papers and when I should expect something in the mail.

The USCIS drones, I tell ya, are the devil's own.

Sachinky,

How did you get the information for your POE? I arrived through JFK, would that be a CBP branch there?

Also, when did you call POE/USCIS and how long did it take to get your green card after that?

We were so concerned about all the maiden name vs. married name issues that she has kept her maiden name for now. All documents and certificates are under that name. She may change it when she applies to naturalize in a few years.

I also heard that DMV can make a fuss over name changes via marriage when you go to get a license. Did anyone have issues dealing with DMV? Do you have to wait till you get your GC in hand for that?

I also called the POE at JFK today (found their info on the Customs and Border Protection website). They said they don't keep any files there/ don't do any processing and send out whatever they have every day. I assume this is somewhat true for every POE (i.e. that they don't process our case files there and send them to USCIS pretty much right away). So it might be pointless to go there in person, especially since they answer the phone and are quite nice when you talk to them (although not very helpful).

Here is what happened... I called USCIS and the lady said they SENT my GC AND welcome letter already and it was returned as "undeliverable"!!!!! They sent it again last Tuesday and I should be receiving it anytime soon.

I went to the post office to find out why they didn't delivery it, and the lady said she cant do anything to help me (?????) so wrote a HUGE sign and stuck it in front of my mail box saying I live here! #######!!!! I already put both of our names on the mail box and even though the mail lady messes up!

I can't believe I could have received my GC already! Stupid USPS people! Undeliverable??? Really? Why they don't 'undeliver' my junk mail? It has to be my immigration papers????? KARMA!!!!!

Any other suggestions on what to do? I really don't wanna miss it for the second time!

I wish I could stalk them again! When I wasn't working was so much easier! haha

Tuesday was the last day I was at home all day, if I knew this I could have just asked her. Too bad.

Anyway, hope I get it tomorrow or Monday.

Also, I ran my credit report online and I only added my name as maiden since I didn't receive my SSN updated yet. Funny thing it showed up as Name: first, maiden - then AKA: first, maiden, last. So I suppose SS office already did their job! Hopefully I'll receive my new card this week so I can shove on the HR lady's face that it was not my fault! hahah

Stalk the mailman?

But for real, I'm so sorry you are having all these problems hun! (L)

Thank God I left the note on the mail box, so the USPS lady just knocked my door to understand what's going on.

We explained to her what USCIS people told us, and she said she didn't return anything. That she knows from the 1st day that we live here and if it was her substitute (on her day off) she would know if something was 'undeliverable'.

She asked me to leave the note up there because she is going on vacation till Thursday.

So we'll see.... I don't know who is saying the truth. I don't think USCIS would make a mistake and tell me same information 2 times. I called them twice yesterday and talked to 2 different people and they both said the same.

Oh Gosh! This is so annoying and messed up.

I don't know what else to do.
