sounds like a good idea. no when i filed earlier htis year, i filed as married, but with the single option, so didnt get an ITIN#. how would i get one of these? Thanks

We filled out a W-7, and sent it in with the 1040, and it took 7 weeks to get our tax refund. I think it's too late for her to get one, though. It is only valid until a SS # is issued.

Another vent...

So, I went to the bank the other day to have them help me fill out some papers so I can do a transfer from my bank in Sweden to our savings account here in the US.

And no one in the freaking bank could figure out what I needed! I mean, it's that banks information I'm asking for! The forms I had for them to fill in ARE IN ENGLISH, and still no one knew anything...aaahh!

I mean, they should have handled a international transaction before shouldn't they?

So stupid.

I guess I'll just have to withdraw the money when I go home to Sweden and exchange it ther for some stupid fee or whatever.

So now I'm wondering, since you have dto declare if you travel with more then $10.000 what happens if you are travelling with more? Do they charge you something when you declare that you are travelling with more?

yuenashleysl - congrats on getting the SSN!!

Okay so.... I got a job!! Yaaaay!!! Today was my 1st day!!!!

The only problem is... my freaking name doesn't match my SSN name!!! Also, the lady from HR said "your visa will expire on Nov 16, you'll be out of status" then I explained that the date means I had to enter the US till the 16th of November, but that my visa is good for a year. She didn't seem to believe me though, said I have to go to SS office and get a letter from them saying that they haven't updated my name yet because they're waiting for USCIS input.... #######????????

She said I have to give her something in 8 days! I don't know what to do!

I should have NEVER changed my name!!!! What a mess! Why the a-holes at USCIS don't send me at least the Welcome freaking letter? I already set a infopass appointment for next week, it sucks I'll have to take time off!!!!

Is it possible to have your bank in Sweden to transfer the money instead of depending on the bank here? Orrr, maybe if you guys threaten to pull your money out of this bank, they'll start to understand what to do real quick...

Isn't the stamp you receive at POE good for work authorization and valid for a year? I'm confused on this point.

Dear, try to talk to your bank in your Country. They should be able to make the transfer to you. You can't travel with more than $10k I think.

I'm transfering the money through my bank in Sweden but I need to get all the info from the bank here as to where it is sent ( BIC/SWIFT , etc) and apparently no one at the bank knows anything about that!

I was reading through stuff at the CBP website and it says you can travel with as much money as you want, but if it's over $10.000 you have to fill out a form and declare it. I'm just wondering if there's any fee or charge or anything?

Ihope they figure out that you are legally allowed to work hun! Or that stupid USCIS sends you your GC finally!!! :bonk:

I remember when I got my money transferred from US to Brazil I had to get the brazilian swift number and info and they gave it to me easily. Try to talk to someone else more acknowledged.

I don't know if they will charge you if you bring cash. I would just worry to travel with all this money though hon...
