Ok, my fiancee got her Visa approved, but when at the border, they just approved the Visa, gave it back to her, and did not return the paperwork. With "paperwork" I mean all stuff they had such as my Birth Certificate, original forms, my w2s, NOA1 and NOA2. We just got her Visa. Is this supposed to be like this????? We haven't received anything in the mail either. Wouldn't we need the approval forms to adjust status???? I am also worried about my birth certificate. Thanks.

Do you mean that huge stack of paperwork that is your petition/application?? I have never heard of anyone having the paperwork handed back to them at the port of entry..

Did you send in originals of all those documents you are worried about? If so, you might want to get certified copies asap since I don't think they can give that back to you (you can of course contact USCIS).

What you send in with your petition is up to you. Unless specifically required to submit originals (such as police certificate, passport photos, etc.), you just send in copies or certified copies of your documents.

Getting a copy of your birth certificate is not that hard.

Does anyone know how to obtain a copy of I-797 NOA? I guess you might want to look into form I-824...

Good luck, sorry about your loss....
