Thanks, KitKat...I actually feel like I've got everything under control right now, especially since you took the time to answer some of my questions on the other board!

No questions or difficulties as of yet...just wanted to join the club as paperwork generally drives me insane and it's heartening to see so many others around here. :)

Chances are you'll have a very fast process through VSC. In terms of what happens after that, the NVC, dealing with CDJ, the fiance packet, the medical, where to stay, etc. . . . it's ALL in that thread. Happy reading!

Wow, a lot of new posts since the last time I checked this thread. I like the link to the Juarez thread too- mostly I get my "fix" on another site and don`t go wandering around this one very much.

I do have a question about filling out the employment section for the BF:

First question, it asks for the past five years. If there are more jobs than spaces, do I attach a separate sheet?

And secondly, I'm not sure if your loved ones are the types with stable jobs or not (I imagine some of both) but me imagino que muchos saben como es la bronca con el trabajo de mexico. Well, homeboy has jumped around from waiter job to waiter job over the years. For some he's been officially on the books and others no. But all we've got is his "official" record of jobs that he uses for job apps...ie, the best jobs with the dates fudged to hide when he was looking and not finding anything. Then, of course, in the middle of the jobs where he worked for a couple of months, was out of work for a bit, he'd work at some crappy place for a couple of weeks while discovering just how crappy these places were.

So how do I handle this on the form? Especially because we've both got horrendous memories. This part is making me all sweaty.

BTW, this is for his first G325A.

I wouldn't be too worried - include where he was working legally and attach a second sheet if need be. If there are gaps, no problem. It's just meant to be background information and it seems they don't actually check into it.

BTW, you're more likely to get answers from people in the midst of this process here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37896

Thanks for the reassurance and tips. And please pardon me, this forum is much bigger than any I'm used to, so I have a hard time just figuring out where to post.

We'll just do the best we can with that part and try to be as accurate as possible!

Gracias por el animo, quiquis, y suerte con la cita!

ok, just to update you guys ... my dad had to go to the consulate and get his passport. it is a day thing, so that was not much. he did not understand why the 'matricula consulado' was not accepted by the airline folks. I tried explaining that it was a US law and that it did not allow for anything other than a passport. The premanent residencey card i have yet to figure out. But, to play it safe, everyone should have a current passport.

I was reading through the K1 flowchart and am stuck on the part about the beneficiary receiving their packet and checklist.

Is there really stuff that he needs to fill out himself or can that all be done by me prior to meeting up with him in Juarez? If I remember correctly, people have said that the beneficiary never even receives the package often and I'd bet this'll be the case for us as well.

So can everything be done on my end and if his signature (except for the paperwork he'll have to pull together) and signed by him when we're together again?

I was stuck for a long time on that part as well. We emailed the consulate every week (since calling is useless), and finally we got an email saying that the packet had been sent. The US citizen usually receives the packet 3-7 days later, in my case it was exactly a week. My fiance has not received the packet and probably won't receive it, but it doesn't matter. As long as one of you gets the packet all you really need is the letter stating that he can come for the interview. The forms they send in the packet are expired, so just go off what is on the CDJ website (some of the forms on the CDJ website are expired too so you can get the most recent here or on the USCIS site). As for filling them out, my fiance and I just talked through it while we were both looking at the form online. You can fill it out for him if you have all the info and then have him sign if it is easier, but I preferred talking my fiance through it so that he understood all of the questions and how he was answering them. The forms have to be filled out in English, so I had to help him with translating what he wanted to write for some questions (especially any additional pages we had to attach since we ran out of room on the forms).

I hope this helps... suerte!!
