Glad to have found a Mexico thread!! I was wondering if anyone can help me find some timelines for a IR-1 Visa. Im just waiting for my case to be approved at NVC and sent to CJ Embassy. I want to know about how long for an interview date?? I can find many IR-1 timelines for mexico and it would really help me plan everything better if I had an idea.

If you search a bit, you'll find an old thread regarding timelines - slightly outdated but still a good source of information.

For an immigrant visa (I-130 without I-129 filed) it takes one year for an interview date from the time the file reaches the CDJ consulate. If you file the I-129F along with the I-130 (resulting in a K3 NON-immigrant visa and requiring AOS in the US later), it takes between 4-6 months to get an interview date.

If you search a bit, you'll find an old thread regarding timelines - slightly outdated but still a good source of information.

If you file the I-129F along with the I-130 (resulting in a K3 NON-immigrant visa and requiring AOS in the US later), it takes between 4-6 months to get an interview date.

really the only timelines that matter are the ones that are slightly ahead of you. you can tell if things are slowing down or speeding up. my timeline (see below) is probaly not much use since it reflected last year's situation. I think there is a timeline thingie around here. I'll see if I can find it.

I just found this thread, I didnt know there was a mexico thread either.

As you can see from my timeline, my husband and I arrived in the US in March. We filed DCF in Mexico City. As for timelines, I am not sure if mine will be very helpful, but from what I have seen after the ase reaches CDJ it takes at least 8 months for an interview, but usually more. good luck

Congratulations, Anaanddaniel and Tabta. It`s nice to see some of us are getting somewhere. Anaand daniel has a good point- the back-logs keep growing so fast at CDJ that last year`s news doesn`t seem to apply at all this year. Kitkat is talking about www.immigrate2us.net the reader base is much smaller than it seems to be here, but they have a lot more Mexico filers, especially in the "I-601 Thank you Spouse" forum. Maybe this site explains why there are so many countries conspicuously underrepresented there. From this site, you`d almost think that hardly anyone immigrated from Mexico. From I2US it looks like hardly anyone comes from Korea, China, the Philipines or Jamaica.

Thanks Daniel that would be great. I thought that there would be tons more from mexico on this forum too but thanks everyone for the reference to the other one. It helped alot but almost everyone has seem to needed a 601 waiver. Which I hopefully wont be needing. Thats what you would use if you were denied at the interview right?

we are going to mexico for Christmas this year. airline tix are expensive. 900 + direct round trip from Sacramento and Gudalajara per person.

We ended up buying Soutwest tix for the Sacramento to San Diego portion. we will cross the border on foot. then catch a flight from Tijuana to guadalajara via Alma airline. Total cost for the two of is < 800. Mkaes for a long day trip what the heck, we consinder it part of traveling.

Holy cow! My parents and I just bought round trips from Reno to GDL and back for $507. If the cheapest "easy" flights are $900, I guess the Christmas premiums must be pretty nasty. I was thinking of going again for my wife`s birthday in mid Dec and use up the end of this year`s vacation. Maybe it would be better to meet in Encinada/Rosaritos instead.

I think the only option you have when planning on traveling to Mexico with your sweetie/honey/SO is to simply buy the ticket as soon as possible. A couple years ago, I surprised my boyfriend by arriving in Mexico during the Christmas season. I bought the ticket the first week of October and paid about 520 for it, that's not bad. This was back in 2003, so things may have changed and prices may have gone up.

bougt a priceline tix a number years ago for one of my sisters:

sacrmaneto,ca --> salt lake city, utah

salt lake city, utah --> Los angeles, CA

Los angeles, CA --> guadalajara, MX

all to save 200 dollars. no thanks.

I think my inlaws have the best way- they take those nice Mexican busses as far as the border, then catch a quick hop or someone drives to pick them up from San Diego or El Paso. All we need to do is retire or get jobs that offer about eight weeks of vacation per year and we could do the same thing!

Oh- I checked airline prices for Dec. I`m looking at going from the 9th to the 13th and the price is pretty much the same as now. I guess the Christmas rush doesn`t take up the whole month.
