No need to get nervous. It takes about 10-14 days to get the NOA1 after you send the application in. They cash the checks first and when they clear they mail it off. You'll probably get your notice in a couple days.

It's no problem Luckymom. Also, keep in mind that after you get your NOA1 it'll probably be about 3-6 weeks before you get your bio appointment in the mail. The time will be different for all of us because it depends on our local Application Support Center's time slot availability. The bio appointment itself can be from one to several weeks after you receive the notice, and then expect to wait another couple of weeks to months for an approval. If it happens faster, that's awesome but overall we can expect this whole process to take AT LEAST 3-4 months from submission to approval. Hope this helps. :thumbs:

I sent it USPS priority with online, it was delivered the next day. Without that reassurance I'd be chewing paint off the walls by now.

All my visa stuff seems to be delayed, my k1 sat around for over a month before I got the NOA1. Maybe i have a suspicious name or something.

tom_g and luckymom please stop worrying. My packet was received on 7/6/10 at VSC, check was cashed on 7/9/10 and I am waiting for NOA which I expect to be delivered any day. My GC is expiring on 7/17/10 like tom_g. Frankly, I am not worried, and it is rather early to get into this mode. I don't know what future going to be like, how long this process is going to take. Majority of filers from April (mainly CSC) haven’t seen anything in last 2 month. We have to be patient for our own benefit because there is very little we can do. My AOS took 1 year and 8 month but bottom line is it was done. Once your checks are cashed I think you are good.

In our case our entire application was returned to us. Our 1st packet was delivered on 6/22/2010 to VSC. I kept waiting for the check to be cashed and it never was. Then on 7/12/2010 we recieved the appliation returned to us with a Notice of Action that the proper payment wasn't submitted with the application. We submitted a personal check for $625 which was the fee + 2 biometrics. Because it was a joint application for wife and stepson. But the NOA said that stepson couldn't apply jointly and therefore the check was for to much and they wouldn't accept the application based on that.

Yesterday we mailed a 2nd application packet with a $545 check. This time just for my wife. And next month we will have to send another packet and $545 for my stepson.

2nd Packet has delivered today 7/14/2010.

Wife's Green card expiration date 7/11/2010.

Inquisitive one, have you tried calling USCIS to explain the situation to them so they don't automatically send back your application and say you're out of status? I know you sent everything back plus the letter they sent you (hope you kept a copy of it), but I have a feeling they might try to give you a hard time so better to be prepared just in case they do.
