Hi Everyone!

I mailed our ROC packet 6/28/10 and we got our NOA1 on 7/2/10...but still no biometrics letter. I've tried to check the status online, but the website states it does not recognize our receipt number. Is it too soon to panic? Should I call USCIS...or should I make an infopass appointment at this point?

It's been so long since I've posted on VJ...living happily and I was miss smartypants thinking I could do it all without help *smile*.

Welcome back to vj. Its been over 30 days, i would contact USCIS. The number is located on your NOA1. If the rep you speak with is of no help ask to speak with an IO (immigration officer). The reciept number on the NOA1 cannot be used to look up your case status online. You will get assign a new reciept number, unfortunately, this number is located on the bio appointment letter. If you speak with an IO they can provide you with this number. USCIS sends the bio appointment letter to the address on file. Have you moved recently? I did a change of address with USCIS, but they still sent my bio letter to my old address. Your timeline is similar to mine. Looking at the list of July filers, everyone who send their packages in early July have received their bio appointment. Another reason for your delay maybe your local ASC office is backed up with appointments.

Regarding the back ground checks and how long the process takes, does it matter what country the applicant is from? For example our initial CR1 was done thru the Casablanca embassy which is known for its denials and fraud. Will this weigh in on how they approve the ROC?

I don't think that matters much at this stage. They already did extensive checks on everyone before giving them the initial immigration benefit. I figure if they were going to deny you based on where you come from they would do that the first time around. Now the focus is on you and your spouse and if you're in a real marriage vs a marriage of convenience just to obtain a green card.

Re-read your NOA1 notice and you'll see it gives instruction about how and when you can check your case status online. If you've been waiting 30 days and haven't gotten a bio appt you can call USCIS and inquire about it. The most likely situation is that your ASC is backlogged and you'll have to wait a bit to get an appt. I'll add your info to the July timeline.

I have the bio letter but the WAC number doesn't register in the online case tracker.

Give it a few more days tom_g. I see other people who have said the same thing but were able to access it a few days later. They probably are updating the system. :thumbs:

Thank you all very much. I called USCIS and spoke with an immigration officer. The good news is we didn't miss the letter, it has not been issued yet. We did not move or change our mailing address at all. I saw that the people here that filed when we did got their appointments already and that's what prompted my concern. So, they gave me a new receipt number too and we will wait patiently. Thanks for adding me to the list.

I was able to add the receipt number to our account on USCIS today.

I noticed the timelime box at the bottom of the Check my Case page and was curious. It shows the timeline for I-751 as 6 months in May.

Wow, I got very lucky today...My biometrics were schedule for Aug/27 but thankfully I was able to walk-in today and get them done...Three weeks in advance. I'm glad they let me do them. They were very courteous.

Hi to all! Just had my biometrics this 3:00 PM. I would like to ask you guys on how to update the status of my application. Is it going to the website of USCIS and to the Resources and from there I can update the status. I read some posts that they are receiving texts and emails. How's that? Anyone kind enough to answer my questions. Just want to know ahead of time and just out of curiosity, when is the possible time that there is what we call "touch" in the application. Sorry for my lack of knowledge of the process. Thanks in advance.

You need your NOA receipt number.

Actually, you don't update the status of your application... you can check what USCIS is doing with it. If there are new updates, you will receive a txt msg or an email. Depending what you select.
