Question about the Police Certificates

Is it true that the beneficiary needs to have a police certificate from every country he's lived in?

If this is so then we have a bit of a problem. My Fiance (an Irish national who's family moved a lot due to his father's job) was born in Kuwait, lived in Japan as a toddler, then lived in England, then back in Ireland, and went to college in the US. How can we retrieve police certificates from these places (we currently live in Ireland)?

And I've also heard that he will need a court certificate from the country he was born in, is this the equivalent to a birth certificate? And how can we get these documents translated?

From what the consulate here told us, dunno if it holds for all countries, is that you only need a certificate from any country he resided in since the age of 16.

Okay thanks for the information. Can anyone else verify that this is the case for all consulates?

Also how would we go about obtaining police certs from the US (he's lived in two states; Florida and Texas)?

You don't need to get a police certificate from the US.They are not obtainable anyway.From Uk you can get one over the post.Good luck

Police records only need to be obtained from countries he lived in after the age of 16. You only need to obtain police records if he lived in a different country for more than 12 months.

I can't really say for certain what is defined as a "court certificate," but the website listed above states, "Applicants who have been convicted of a crime must obtain a certified copy of each court record and any prison record, regardless of the fact that he or she may have subsequently benefited from an amnesty, pardon or other act of clemency."

He will need to have his original birth certificate for the interview at the Embassy.
