Buffalo border busy on Canada Day

Does anyone think or know first hand whether we can expect the crossing at Buffalo into Canada to be busy tomorrow, considering that it's Canada day?

03/28/11 - FP

06/17/11 - status change - scheduled for interview

06/20?/11 - received physical interview letter

07/13/11 - Interview in Fairfax,VA - easiest 10 minutes of my life

07/19/11 - Oath ceremony in Fairfax, VA

Chances are that, yes, it will be busy. I work at a small port in comparison to Buffalo and we are always busy on Canada day.

Udella&Wiz- Lol...I always avoid the border during holidays!

Lol...I learned that lesson the hard way, when I went back to Canada on a holiday...Luckily though, I was going in the opposite direction back to the USA, before the traffic got worse...But yeah, I could see cars and vehicles lined up for hours for those getting to Canada.....

Between Canada Day for July 1st in Canada and Independence Day for July 4th in the USA, the border is going to be jammed!

So if at all costs, avoid the border during that weekend!

But if you have to go, my suggestion is to go really early or really late, to avoid traffic....(lol..before sunrise and after sunset is when we usually go...yeah we're odd...)

Sometimes the middle of the day is better. I've crossed (going into the US) as early as 6 a.m on a holiday weeend and still waited close to an hour. One year I had time to read the entire Toronto Star while we were waiting. :clock:

My uncle crosses there a couple times a week, as he does radio in canada and the us. he actually lives right in Niagara on the Canada side. From what i heard in the last couple weeks that border is always busy. You can always call them direct and find out if there is a "good" time to cross.

If you're crossing into Canada on the first..I'm going to guess it will be lighter than going to the USA side..with the 4th falling on the sunday(and most people taking the monday holiday) you might get lucky..I would take the peace bridge ...they have the a higher number of ..####### what do you call them?lmao..windows?kiosks?haha you know what I mean..I cross there all the time(holidays included) and have had the best luck at the Peace bridge...have a wonderful trip!

On Canada day a few years back some friends and I spent the day at Martin's Fantasy Island in NY. When we were driving back into Canada it was 5 or 6 in the afternoon and it was crazy. It was about an hour wait just to get across. Unfortunately we used the Rainbow bridge (poor idea) and there was some big event at Planet Hollywood in Niagara Falls on the Canada side, so traffic was stop and go for another hour just trying to get out of town...

call ahead 1-800-715-6722...I have the number programed into my phone...it gives you the status of the niagara bridges every hour. Peace bridge usually can take more volume than the Rainbow...The Lewiston Bridge is usually the worst...near Christmas several years ago, when they were doing some kind of orange alert we waited FIVE hours...and we tried all three!!!
