Good morning VJ'ers,

I just wanted to double check on something..

."Copy of final Divorce Decree(s) or Certificate(s) for the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) if either has been previously married. If the previous marriage of the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) ended due to the death of their spouse then include a Copy of Death Certificate(s) documenting that fact."

I have not been married previously. I do not have a marriage certificate or divorce decree. My fiancee has provided a mariagabilty certificate, but is thre anything i need to provide? I was just thinking about this and I did not include anything in my original application packet. I am just making sure we will be ok, b/c i think her P4 will come any day now and i don't want any snags at the interview.

Thank you very much!

Chris

I would say that's a NO. You did see the "IF either has ever been married" right? If you've never been married, your petition should reflect this and you don't need it. I've never heard of anyone getting a marriagability certificate here in the US.

Thank you. This is what I thought, but as we come to the end of the process sometimes i start to doubt myself on some of these steps :). Have a nice holiday weekend!

It's ok! I thought it was funny!

These forms are sometimes enough to make your eyes cross at how #######-retentive you have to be in making sure every i is dotted and every t crossed. Don't worry, it's not as horrendous as you think in the end. You just have to try on a little crazy till you get them done, if you don't have enough of your own. Then, you'll breathe easy when you've got it sent off, and sit on pins and needles till you get each Notice/Approval/etc. finished.

Good luck!!

You don't need to provide anything for that then. Both me and my fiance have never been married before so we didn't provide any documentation for that, and our petition was approved just fine.

"IF either has ever been married"

Ya, I got tripped up on this once, also.

But finally, after tossing the 8th set of forms in some crumpled mass, I sat down with paper and pencil,

drew out logic blocks and if/then/else statements on everything I could find in the instructions.

and then, @#$@#$@# it was clear.

Relax, you.

Seriously.

But do prep that EOR letter, ya ?
