Wife passed interview but they kept passport

I am totally confused here trying to figure out what my wife should do here. My wife passed here interview but they kept her passport. They gave her no further instructions on what to do after the interview.

Is there a reason that they held on to her passport? Is it because my step child needs to be cleared first before they send the Visas to her home address?

As I have stated in other threads, that my step child did not pass medical and needs 6 months of treatment before she can go back to St. Lukes. Both of these visa applications where filed at the same time. And they both had appointments on the same day at the same time. I would imagine that my step childs interview has to be approved before they issue visas. Is this correct? I know I have been asking a lot of questions here, but I need help on this before I send my wife back home.

thanks,

martinbr

The passport will be mailed to her with the envelope containing her info. I am assuming that she gave her address for this to be done. It will be on the outside of the envelope in clear plastic. She can remove her passport but do not open the envelope as this contains her information to be handed over and only opened by the the immigrations officer at her U.S point of entry. Your wife's visa will be issued before her child's will if the child has to undergo the TB treatment for 6 months. Does not matter that they both had interview same day, You would think that they would hold off on the issuance being since her child has treatment at St. Lukes to undertake but it appears they do not care. Almost as if one can go now and the other has to wait with no regards that the other is a minor child.

The OP seems to be confused with the fact that if his wife's daughter requires TB treatment, that she will need to go to St Luke's for the injections every day....As for keeping his wife's passport...seems strange because if his daughter is held up for TB treatments, the visa will expire before his wife can use it.

The Embassy kept your wife's passport because she passed her interview. That's standard operating procedure. Did your wife pay the Air21 visa packet delivery fee after her interview? If she did not pay Air21 after her interview, then her visa packet will be sent COD.

Why do you keep saying that your step-child needs six months of TB treatment when no one even knows whether she has TB? St. Lukes does not diagnose TB based upon a chest x-ray. They base it upon a sputum test and a two-month culture. I thought I had made that clear to you in your other thread. Why are you still saying it?

Here is what your wife needs to do:

1. Your wife needs to take her daughter to St. Lukes three days in a row in order to complete a sputum test. She needs to do it now.

2. After her daughter completes the sputum test, they both can go home and wait two months for the results of the TB culture.

3. After the two-month waiting period for the results of the TB culture, when the results of the culture show that the daughter does not have TB, they need to return to Manila for the daughter's interview.

4. After the daughter's interview, they can go home and wait for the daughter's visa to be delivered.

If the two-month TB culture turns up positive for TB, only then will the daughter need to undergo a six-month TB treatment. The only place the daughter can get TB treatment is at St. Lukes. If she gets treatment anywhere else, St Lukes will not accept it and will require her to undergo another six months of treatment...at St. Lukes!

The visa is put in the passport. This is why the passport remains with the US Embassy. If they give the passport back right away this is a bad sign.
