I am filling out the i134... if I choose to send my fiance' a copy of my 2009 tax return and w2 ( as proof of income) will i need to get it notorized ? I would request a transcript of my taxes, but I think the IRS will take too long to get the information to me. We are going though the London Embassy.

thanks for you help in advance

I don't think you need to get them notorized, I called the IRS to get my tax transcripts and it only took about a week to get them to me, I have also heard that the embassy likes transcriots better then a copy of your tax return.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

No, you do not need to get your tax return notarized. There would be little point, since a notary would only be witnessing your signature. They can't certify any of the information on the tax return is true or accurate.

Aly and Randy are correct about transcripts. Consulates generally prefer them over copies of a tax return since they confirm the information that was actually submitted to the IRS. A 1040 form, with or without a notary stamp, doesn't prove any of the numbers are accurate, or that the return was actually filed with the IRS, which is why you must include the supporting documents like W2's. You can get transcripts in a week to ten days. You can even get them faxed to you the same day.
