I am trying to fill out my wife's I-485. We got married in the US when she was here on a J-1 visa. Since then she has gone back to her country and has returned on a B-2 tourist visa. Which box do I check in "part 2 application type" of the I-485.

Also, where can i find her non-imigrant visa number on her visa?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did she have the intent to immigrate upon last entry?

No. We have just decided. Originaly she was only going to visit.

Technically, visitor visas, student visas and alike cannot be used to adjust status. Although there is a loophole, if upon last entry you did not intent to immigrate, and then you met someone got married, you could file to adjust status. Being that you were already married, it might be harder to prove intent. If the USCIS officer decides that your case warrants visa fraud, it will result in a lifetime ban. Many people have successfully adjusted from non-marriage visas, but it is something to be aware of.

Back to your original question, you want to follow this guide. http://www.visajourney.com/content/otheraos

"A" and you had better be submitting an I-130 with the I-485

YMMV

No. We have just decided. Originaly she was only going to visit.

I want to warn you that as your WIFE arrived in the US on a visitors visa (as you married before she left the country again) then adjusting status MIGHT be risky. While USCIS doesn't try to prove intent because it's hard to do, but the fact you married her, she left the country, then re-entered as a visitor and THEN you applied for AOS seems like you planned it from the start. I don't know what will happen, but I thought I should warn you that it looks incredibly suspicious so don't be surprised if they qn you about it (they might not, just a heads up).

As for the visa number, it's red and you're using her B2 visa, not her J1 to AOS.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" as you are adjusting from a B2 visa and the prior forum is for K1, K2, K3 & K4 (a visa other than a K1, K2, K3 & K4 which the prior forum is for)**
