So I had my interview last week and was approved YEAAAH!!! The CO was surprised I had a co-sponsor complete I-134 form s he said I didn't need that as the letter from my fiance's employer and the tax forms from 2008 year (had to use 2008 as the IRS transcripts didnt arrive intime for my interview) showed he earned above the poverty line. His mother was a co sponsor for us with her income and her assets. I had called the uSCIS prior to my interview and they had told me that because his income was below the poverty line last year, 2009, he was laid off from work and collection unemployement (even though he is well above this year) we would still need a co-sponsor.

My question is, to be safe any not risk and RFE when I do my AOS in August (getting married Aug 10/10.)We are going to use his mother as a co-sponsor again, but the I864 form is confusing. Can we use his mother and her assets if we don't live with her? the Instructions on the form says you can use the income and assets of a relative only if they live in your household, but then under "Joint Sponsor" it says a Joint Sponsor can be any US Citizen whos income and or assets are above the poverty line for their houshold. Can someone please clarify for me

Yes, your (future) husband will fill an i-864 form as the main petitioner for you. And then his mother will fill another i-864 because she doesn't live with you.

Well hellooo! Nice to see MA here.. I haven't seen too many :)

I don't know the ins and outs of getting married at city hall, but you do have to go there to get your marriage license.

There is a 3 day waiting period after applying before you can come back to get the license.

And then if you are not having a religious ceremony you would need a justice of the peace to marry you.

You can find one here: http://www.findajp.com/findmass.htm

And then I don't think it matters where the actual ceremony takes place..
