Hi everyone,

Me and my wife applied for CR1 immigration visa, till now things seems to be going well but i got so much worries about what to expect after receiving the passport.

I read that the visa got expiring date !!!!!

Will i be allowed to work?

Will my engineering degree be accredited in USA??

Am i allowed to come back to Egypt again ?

Also, next August it will 2 years since we got married, what is " Remove of Conditions ", when to do it? and why even do it ??

Thank you for your help.

I read that the visa got expiring date !!!!! - yes,you have 6 months to use the visa and enter the USA.

Will i be allowed to work? - If you have the CR-1 (as opposed to the K3 listed in your profile) then yes, you can work immediately.

Am i allowed to come back to Egypt again ? - yes, but only for visits, not to live.

Also, next August it will 2 years since we got married, what is " Remove of Conditions ", when to do it? and why even do it ?- If you enter the USA after your second anniversary, you will get the ten year greencard, so no need to remove conditions. If you enter before, you need to remove conditions 2 years after immigration (you can apply 90 days before the 2 years), to get the ten year green card. You need to do this because the 2 year card expires and you will be out of status.

hi,

thank you for the answer, but i got another question if u dont mind.

i have been already got accepted by the embassy and im waiting for the passport, they said within 10 days. Should i do the remove of conditions when i go to the states or my wife can do it starting now ( you said 90 days before we continue 2 years ).

And, after the visa expires, i should go back to my country, right? But if so, then ill have the same problem, i would be here and my family there.

thank you for your help.

I think you missunderstand:

- You need to do removal of conditions 2 years after you come to the USA, not 2 years after you get married. Considering your anniversary is so close, if I was you I would just delay my flight to the USA until after the anniversary date in August- that way, you safe the money and hassle of having to do ROC.

- The visa is just to enter the USA, not to stay here. When you enter, they will give you a stamp in your passport to act as temporary greencard, allowing you to stay in the USA as long as it is valid (ie two or ten years) and your actual greencard will arrive in the mail within a couple of months. After three years of living with your wife in the USA on that greencard, you can apply for citizenship.

Oh,that sounds better lol, more relaxed now.

So when the visa expires, i don't have to leave my family and come back here ? i don't understand that still.

And, about my education, i got bachelor degree in electronics and communication but from Egypt, will i be able to work as an engineer? or my education wouldn't be accredited ?

I'm so sorry for asking so many questions, i hope i'm not bothering you.

The Visa is good for one use to enter the US and must be used within 6 months of issue. Upon entry it is replaced by the Greencard so the Visa is used and no longer good. Instead it is the Greencard that allows you to not only stay in the US but to also re-enter if you visit another country.

And, about my education, i got bachelor degree in electronics and communication but from Egypt, will i be able to work as an engineer? or my education wouldn't be accredited?

That depends on the industry you work in and any accreditation/licensing organisations here. Often times a professional will have to take the US version of accreditation testing (such as NCLEX for Nurses) so you'd find better answers for this from a professional association.

Because the defense of this great land isn't just the responsibility of US Citizens but is shared by all who choose to reside here legally.
