Hi Guys,

I'm here on K1 visa. I filed my AOS, EAD and AP on the 18th of June 2010.

I've received a rejection notice with the reason being

"The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided. The correct filing fee is $930.00. Each applicant between the age of 14 and 79 must also include an additional $80 fingerprint fee. Please resubmit the applciation fees to the address listed on the bottom of the notice."

We have submitted a Bank of America personal check to U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the amount of $1010. It is signed and dated correctly as 6/18/2010.

Are we supposed to include 2 checks of $930 and $70? We have also scored out the old address on the check and written our current address next to it. This I hear is usual practise here and is accepted.

I can't figure out what the problem could be.

I am not sure why they sent you the rejection notice. I also mailed my wife's A.O.S on June 18th,2010 and mailed a check made out to Department of Homeland Security in the amount of $1010.00, Although I still have not received anything in the mail concerning her status I did get the Certified receipt stating it had been signed and received and the check is showing as being cashed with my bank account.

Take the time to double check the cheque. Are you sure you wrote "one thousand ten 00/000" in the writing part, and $1010 in the numbers part? Did you forget to sign it? (sounds silly I know but it happens). As a precaution DO NOT cross out your address and rewrite it. My address was wrong but we left it as it was, they don't care WHO writes the cheque as long as they get paid the correct amount.
