Hello,

My wife and I are looking over the I-751 form and we were wondering if we need to include our newborn baby girl (born in the US) on "Part 5. Information About Your Children-List All Your Children," or is that only for children who have to go through the removal process also? Thanks for your help.

my understanding is that all children need to be included. The only thing is your baby girl does not have an A# so that field should either be left empty or some users wrote US Citizen - not sure which is best.

I would go with "N/A" over "US Citizen" because you can be a US Citizen and have an alien number.

that is incorrect. A US citizen cannot and does not have an A#.

that is incorrect. A US citizen cannot and does not have an A#.

If a permanent resident naturalizes, they can become a US Citizen. They still have an A# in the USCIS system - I don't believe the USCIS clears out its records upon naturalization. Perhaps you are referring to US Citizen by birth?

And as an example, if you look at the N-565 form, USCIS requests an A# when requesting a replacement naturalization/citizenship document.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/n-565.pdf

So USCIS does not remove A# records upon naturalization.

You bring a good point, but the problem is if naturalized citizens are still categorized by an A#, then there is no equality. A US citizen regardless of by birth or naturalization is a US citizen in the eyes of USCIS. Probably the form you are indicating is one of very very few that an A# is still required, but there shouldn't be anywhere else where the A# needs to be identified and recorded once a US Citizen.

It's probably important because they became US Citizens at a specific time. There should be a difference, even if it is minute, between someone who has always been a US Citizen, and someone who became one at a point of time after birth, especially from a records point of view.

Another difference between the two is that naturalized US Citizens have Naturalization Certificate Numbers. US Citizens by birth don't have a Naturalization Certificate Number.

A popular example of the difference in rights between natural born and naturalized US Citizens is that only a natural born US citizen is eligible for the office of President of the United States, and that is stipulated in the US Constitution.

we are going off original topic. I am going to start a new topic for others to join in on the discussion.

For the OP - you can write in N/A, US Citizen or leave it blank - USCIS deals with this situation all the time.
