As some of you may have read my other posts in another thread, i chose to have a joint sponsor, so i better be safe than sorry. Our case is already in Bucharest Embassy and i am scheduled for an interview on the 15 Th of July. The embassy made it clear to me that i do not need a cosponsor, since my husband meets the financial requirements; however his brother wants to help me and send me his joint sponsor papers, just in case.So i gave him a list of things i need from him, and the only thing he can not provide is a proof of his citizenship. He does not own a passport, and he lost his birth certificate years ago. All he has is his driver license, and i read that DL wont do.So my questions:

- what else will be accepted as proof of citizenship( he was born in US and always lived there)

- also, if i choose to take a bank letter with me at the interview ,(instead of dealing with the cosponsor story) that will show we have 15k in the bank, is it ok and acceptable if the money is in my personal account from Romania ( me being the beneficiary), or do the money have to be in hubby's American bank account?

Thank you and waiting for your input on this.

From the I-864, page 6

Proof of U.S. citizen or national status includes a copy of your birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship, consular report of birth abroad to citizen parents, or a copy of the biographic data page of your U.S. passport.

I don't know the answer to your bank account information - it's consulate specific.

However I am wondering why, if your Husband's sponsorship is sufficient, why are you bothering with the hassle of a joint sponsor and proof of your cash assets.

Like trailmix, confused as to why go this route, but his birth certificate should be on file in the state in which he was born. He can get a new copy, if you want to go that route.

I understand your confusion on this, so i will copy and paste my initial post about this so you can understand the situation:

Ok, i am somewhat in a similar situation.Yesterday i called the us embassy in Romania to find out if my casefile arrived here from NVC. The lady on the phone said ''yes, we have just received it yesterday'', then i asked her what can she tell me about it, if it's complete and if there is anything else i need to send them. She looked in hurry over the papers , and she told me ''there is a problem with your affidavit of support'' i see only 14k made in 2009 by your husband.Talk to him and either send us in a bank statement with 15k in it or get a joint sponsor. I was like !!!!???? so i talked to my hubby, long story in short version is that in 2009 he was in Romania, he then left to US and got a job in April 2009,so thats why the 14k only. But he also sent in a copy of his work contract, his income since January 2010 that clearly shows that he makes much more in one year than the minimum they require. He emailed them explanation, and hoping he will get an answer soon.So you think this is just a misunderstanding, isn't it enough that they see what he makes in one year total and is more than enough? Why would NVC accept all our docs and sent us no rfe's at all if there were issues like this; lucky me that i called embassy here and she was nice enough to explain all this things BEFORE my interview which will be on the 15th of July...

Update - Hubby received a response to his email stating ''It appears from it that your annual income is sufficient to sponsor your wife. The consular officer will review the documents at the time of the interview.'' In other words , they are stating that the first lady i spoke to made a mistake, however people here advised me that i should be prepared for anything, just in case.
