Hi everyone,

We finally got out K1 visa and are very happy about it ;) We bought the tickets right away without thinking much about transfer time. I will land in Chicago O'Hare international airport at 6:15 pm via BMI. Then my next flight is with American Airlines at 8:25 PM. Do you think 2 hours will be enough to go through the immigration office for K 1 ? I read somewhere that is is better to be first in line to go through the immigration office then take the luggage for transfer. I would really appreciate any pieces of advice.

I really hope that my plane from London won't be late and I will have enough time to get on the next flight.

Thank you,

Bimik

You go to luggage AFTER you pass through the secondary inspection. If your USC fiance is with you, he can get the luggage while you deal with immigration.

I landed at Chicago a month ago. Took me nearly 4 hours to clear immigration, baggage and then customs. It was very busy and there weren't too many IOs around. Almost all of the new immigrants missed their connection.

Here's my POE experience for a CR-1. Hope it helps.

bimik, I'm a little confused by your (originating) post.

I will land in Chicago O'Hare international airport at 6:15 pm via BMI. Then my next flight is with American Airlines at 8:25 PM.

Given that BMI is airport code for Bloomington, I'm guessing you meant to say "I will be landing at ORD at 6:15 pm and am scheduled to a connecting flight to BMI at 8:25 pm".

Based on the distance, it would appear that ending the flight at ORD and then driving to Bloomington (about 139 miles) would be easier--or am I missing something?

Thank you for the replies.... I have just 2 days left, hopefully I will make in in 2 hours without additional challenges.

I am departing to London first via BMI. Then I will leave to Chicago via British Airways. Then I have only 2 h 10 minutes until my next flight to SFO via American Airlines.

There should be fairly frequent flights between ORD and SFO, even if you missed your flight due to immigration delays, you can always talk to AA to book you on the next available seat (you can choose to go standby). You may be charged a fee, but usually it's not as much as a ticket, I think part of this depends on what you paid for the trip, they are generally more lenient if you paid for a full fare rather than a heavily discounted one.

Cheers
