Glad this thread got resurrected because I was going to look for it. My husband used it to watch Formula 1 British Grande Prix in real time yesterday, instead of waiting for Fox to broadcast at 11 am. Just wanted to thank Missus. It worked well.

yeaaah. good.

update:

just checked the british tv blog site and the programmer says that the streams are down. you'll just have to be patient until he gets it up and running again... hopefully it wont be too long. The site that is dedicated to the vlc player british tv add on is : http://www.britishtv.us.to/. Go here for any updates on the current situation.

In the meantime:

you could always try using tor as a proxy to watch bbc iplayer and itv player as i do.

heres the link for doing it with google chrome ( although i just deleted g.chrome bcos it can make you vulnerable to malware, just a side note) http://www.webtvunleashed.co.cc/2010/04/watch-bbc-iplayer-outside-uk-using.html

and if you are using mozilla firefox which I recommend: http://www.webtvunleashed.co.cc/2009/02/getting-everything-to-work.html

heres an all in one package for uk tv catchup, it uses tor also, you can watch(catch up ) bbc iplayer, itv player, channel 5. http://www.webtvunleashed.co.cc/2010/05/all-in-one-uk-catchup-tv-package-beta.html

yes its pretty impossible to watch channel 4 with Tor, though if anyone manages to get around their protocols please let us know. i'm not that computer savvy..

I have used expat shield it works fine. Just remember to disable it for normal web surfing. It does show adverts on the screen when surfingg but that don't bother me at all.

This made my DAY! My family have been filling me in on the recent Corrie happenings and this week is the big week. I'm catching up now as we speak...Eastenders and Emmerdale next!

Hubby thought I totally insane. It's also nice to hear the accents again  Roll on my trip home.......
